The Ukrainian war is not a regional skirmish. It has global implications. It was a brazen attack on a sovereign democracy at the gates of Europe. Putin has stated that his war aims are to reconstitute the borders of the old Soviet Union and the Czarist territory into Europe. Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and the Baltic states are next on Putin's agenda. China and Iran are watching how we conduct this matter. If Ukraine falls, China will become more emboldened, starting with Taiwan. That would threaten Japan, the Philippines and Australia. It would sever trade routes with Japan and the Aukus countries and threaten the entire Indo-Pacific region, as Japan did in 1941.

It should be a problem Europe has to deal with and not the US. Poor leadership with Biden calling the shots got us into this mess.

There is a rash of calls for violence, Jewish students being traumatized and afraid to go to class, etc... If reports across the country are true, it's not a "free speech" issue. It's often a terrorism issue. As I've heard this administration talk about the issue, that's what's at issue. Not peaceful demonstrations.

I voted for DOGE, but I did not vote for American retreat and the abrogation of our position as the leader of the free world and as the Arsenal of Democracy. I believe in a small government at home and a strong foreign policy abroad to keep the American people safe. Trump, like Biden and Obama, is emboldening our enemies abroad. Our retreat from Ukraine, like our retreat from Afghanistan will strengthen Russia, China and Iran.

Ending a war is not like undertaking a real estate transaction. Wars cannot be tied up in a neat little package, unless you want to lose.

If Ukraine pays for what we gave them, even in a Lend-Lease sort of deal, I'd agree.
