President Donald Trump - J.D. Vance Administration

Guess it depends on who you are listening to, and how they define "Clean CR." Surprise.

Edit: My reading would be "no," but I don't think the cuts planned in the CR are so egregious as to warrant a shutdown.

Further Edit: If the Rs really did include cuts, that seems sensible, as a clean CR would keep in place the Biden spending levels, which I doubt many Rs (or their constituents) were in favor of. I would prefer Congress do their job and set a budget, but we gave that up some time ago. (Both budgets and Congress doing their jobs.)

There was a GOP Senator on CNBC this am, don't ask me who, who said the plan was to keep the government funded through September and by then have a fully briefed spending bill in place. Makes sense.

Then I heard a Dem admin official say that this CR in some way grants power to DOGE that otherwise would not be there and this is a sticking point, ie it's not really clean.

I dont know, just recounting what I heard.

Of course, the loons on the left celebrate this 100% bc they're radical lunatics.
Radical democrats like seeing further destruction of the USA bc Trump's in Office.
Radicals on the left have ODD (opposition defiant disorder) of whatever POTUS is for.

White liberal women have been trying to find a cause ever since blacking out their Instagram for a day didn’t end racism.

Isn't this something like arsonists claiming firemen have a "weird and bizarre" obsession with putting out fires?

A number of Dems in leadership have hitched their train to social issues that affect a very small part of the population, and which are very off-putting to the larger population. The much larger problem for them is that an even larger number of Dems in leadership were completely asleep at the switch as the GOP in the last cycle successfully portrayed the entirety of the party as obsessed with paying for like a dozen surgeries and letting, what, 10 males, compete in women's sports.

Its not in my view a very fair characterization, especially of the entirety of the party, but the Dems in terms of messaging have seemed to have a hard time distancing themselves from these issues.

I’m sure it is but nevertheless we should not accept funding the government by CRs.

Everyone in the country says they want a budget with line items. And the party in control says they want it. Each time. And blames the other for it not happening.

Until it is time to write it, and then it goes off the rails and too many well-heeled interests then want to cloud the picture and we are back to the CR approach.

I put it in another thread but if the D's can't figure out a way to get their liabilities stuffed in the closet before '28 it's going to be a problem.

Not a single democrat in the senate voted for the protection of women and girls in sports act. They continue to put themselves in this position. GOP is just pointing it out. And the characterization is accurate

I’m blaming the Rs, they own this crap.

Trump administration going to the Supremes to try to make headway on the birthright citizenship issue.

Its really hard not to view this position as reflecting a racial bias against Latinos. While you can argue that illegal immigrants coming into the country should be deported because they are here illegally, and the administration may claim some illegal immigrants have criminal histories, a child born here is not at fault, at any level, nor has he/she committed a crime.

It just seems designed to penalize young people for something over which they have no control.
