President Donald Trump - J.D. Vance Administration

Who loves MAGA Twister?

Watch as those who yesterday supported the removal of the $5 overdraft cap on the ground of free markets now justify this as something good for the consumer.

As part of the economically illiterate left aren't you excited about govt price controls ? Seems you're all over the place on this stuff

I agree with your statement in principle, but disagree with it as it applies specifically to bank overdraft fees and this is why :

^^^ I witnessed this abusive practice firsthand for years, until there was finally a class action lawsuit filed which put a stop to it. I knew this was wrong, and I would refund the $35 overdraft fee for anyone who complained about it. I probably waived over $10K in overdraft fees (that's probably even a lowball figure), just in my time at the First Tennessee Bank (now First Horizon) branch on the corner of Downtown West Blvd and Kingston Pike alone. There are so many ways for banks to screw customers who go overdrawn through debit card credit purchases. It's especially true for banks which pre-authorized gas purchases for $1.00. It can be easy to forget just how much you have pending in gas purchases over the 3 business days that they take to clear. Just checking your available balance on the automated system won't reflect what you have pending in gas charges. You have to keep track of that yourself.
I seem to remember with First TN/Horizon, that I had to specifically request overdraft protection from my savings acct. I don't remember us ever going overdraft in the 20 years ot so, but while in the local branch one day, thye mentioned some fsort of protection and I said that I assumed my Savings acct was protection. They said it could be if I requested it as a free service.

I asked, "I have to ask for any potential checking overdraft to be covered by my savings?"

"Yah."

"Why? Why wouldn't that just be bank policy to protect the customer by default?"

Blank stare. (We both knew the answer.)

finally, me: "Well, of course I'm asking you to turn it on."

With that said, I still don't think we need Govt price setting. I think a free market (with anti-trust protections) can work this out. If that stupid 1st Horizon policy had bitten me, I would be shopping new banks, just like I did when Suntrust screwed us and we moved to 1st Horizon.

Personally I hate First TN/Horizon, long many years ago we got our first mortgage from First TN and since we were account holders both personal and business they were supposed to keep our mortgage in house. When they merged or got brought out and became First Horizon they sold our mortgage and it got lost in the shuffle. Took almost 6 months to finally figure out where to make our payments. Huge mess.

Is that suppose to be a dig? I mean, if so it could have gone worse for you, just replace Hillary with Satan. I generally don't know what you are trying to do with your posts half of the time. Most of your postings are good for Trump and that is why he is gaining strength.... he would not exist without you.

Satan just published a NY Times op-ed and it’s filled with some truly amazing insight and quotes condemning Trump. Here are just a few:

Trump won based on worries of average Americans about the economy.

Since he has won, the stock market, which was doing well, is into correction territory and on pace for the worst quarter in two years. Polls show Americans' rapidly rising fear over unemployment. Inflation escalating under the Trump Tariff Regime....

And he continues to gain strength from you.

(for the record, I could never actually find him saying this... but it is true on some level... you can either join the sane or go the insanity route, its your choice)

Why are you so worried about inflation now? The market was due for a correction anyways given the gov't actions and should be viewed long term. Trump isn't doing well but quit acting as if this is any different than what would happen under another Biden/Harris term
