Border Agents in Texas Pick Up MS-13 Gang Members, Sex Offender

Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector in Texas have apprehended two MS-13 gang members and a migrant convicted of a sex crime against a child -- the latest instance of criminals arrested at the border amid fears of criminals getting into the U.S. by exploiting the border crisis.

Agents in McAllen apprehended a Honduran migrant on Wednesday who was discovered to have affiliations with MS-13, and then hours later apprehended a migrant from Guatemala who was determined to be an MS-13 gang member from a criminal records check, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said in a release.

According to CBP, he was also discovered to have a prior arrest in Miami, Florida, for false statements when applying for a passport and was sentenced to eight months in jail.

On Thursday, McAllen agents arrested a Salvadoran national who had a prior arrest in L.A. for forcible oral copulation with a minor under the age of 14, for which he had been convicted and sentenced to 12 years in jail.

The announcement comes amid concerns that criminal illegal immigrants, including gang members, are exploiting the crisis at the southern border to attempt to enter the country past overwhelmed Border Patrol agents.

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Texas Border City Street Commandeered to Hold Migrants

ROMA, Texas — During the early morning hours Friday, Border Patrol closed an entire city street to accommodate a non-stop stream of migrants coming across the Rio Grande. Breitbart Texas witnessed hundreds emerge from darkness and walk into the city to surrender.

The migrants, mostly family units and unaccompanied children, walked through the dimly lit streets and were directed to a nearby corner closed to the public. The street was effectively commandeered as a temporary outdoor detention and processing area. As migrants provided the Border Patrol with basic information, they were loaded onto buses.

As the Border Patrol struggles with overcrowding in their facilities, they are forced to use areas under bridges or city streets. Many migrants could be seen arriving without masks in groups of more than 100 at a time. Shortly after midnight on Friday morning, more than 200 were sitting in the temporary holding area.

Protecting national sovereignty and upholding the rule of law along our borders should not be a controversial issue, especially as we continue facing economic and public health crises. Yet, the Biden administration continues to lead the assault on our law and values. In doing so, the current border security situation is shifting from a manufactured crisis to a national embarrassment.

Week after week, the Biden administration proposes or pursues policies that are only making the crisis at the border more dire. Recent reporting indicates that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has released more than 50,000 illegal immigrants into the U.S. without issuing a formal notice to appear. They are so overwhelmed with the number of aliens crossing the border that they simply do not have the time to issue a court date. Instead, illegal aliens are asked to voluntarily show up at a local DHS/Immigration and Customs Enforcement office. Thus far, only 13 percent have shown up, which is no surprise. This administration is destroying the rule of law along our southwest border.
