Went to Saturdays open scrimmage and here are some nuggets I saw.

WR- 1st time in years I have seen the WR take the punch to press coverage, what a good way to control the pressing DB than to take the punch to them. Croom and North were monsters in these situations, In the past our WR usually was trying to avoid the pressing DB only to get jammed.

QB- I saw Worley throw a dart 45-50 yards, he has increase his am strength- day and night from last year and his quickness has increased, I think most fans will be impressed with his retreaded body.

North, Pearson, and Croom are all big physical receivers. In addition, we've got the fast slot guys like Pig and Smith. Good mix of WR talent

True, the defense will not get any plays off, they will have their hands full the whole game. Which is going to allow for some big plays. :hi:

It seemed from several reports that they are letting the DB's get away with ALOT of contact in one on one drills. That would indicate that they're near impossible to handle straight up because they're still making plays with lots of leniency on PI.

Such a good mix of receivers. Croom is gigantic and strong. Malone is tall long and fast with unlimited potential. North is a thoroughbred stud #1. Pearson is electric with the ball in his hands and has scary acrobatic catch potential. Pig is a jitterbug who is tough as nails. Smith is sneaky athletic and not small at 6'1 200lbs, with great fundamentals and routes. Add in the depth provided by two more small quick guys who work hard everyday in Wharton and Johnson. That's a scary talented group with not 1 senior among them.

Oh yea and the Tight ends are apparently night and day improved from last season and the two freshman appear to be destined for great careers here.

So, you're saying we have a re-tread at QB. Great...

DT's? That's the scary thing. How the h.ll do we hold up in this conference w/ out any? Offense should be fun to watch though.

If Worley can get the ball to the WR & TE (and I think he can) we will win a few we aren't supposed to!
13 days!!!

Yeah. And Bama. Those two D's get away with more PI than anyone.

Not sure if they get away w more or less PI. But, UF especially plays serious physical press coverage daring WRs to beat them physically. It's legal within 5yd.
Their talent limits that usually. This year should be really interesting. We have very talented wides. Best of all they are in every type and shape.

Watching Marquez North in scrimmage vids has me pumped. This guy looks NFL ready now. Glad he's stuck here for two years.

Press coverage disrupts route timing, bump and run can be effective in throwing the rhythm of the pass offense off. Sacks are very helpful too. We need to get some.

We don't throw to our DT's.

Thread is about WR's.

Try to keep up.

Stay positive whenever possible.

That is all.

You are dismissed.

Exactly what I am talking about, I saw WR bring the pressure to the DB not waiting on the DB to try to jam the WR, like livefaith said UF plays a lot of Press Coverage and usually our WR are jam out of their routes, with our WR looking to jam the DB 1st changes the game in favor to the WR's.

Josh Smith is one of the smallest guys in the 2-deep at 6'1" 200lbs. Our wideouts ought to punish those CB midgets regularly at the line of scrimmage not only to get upfield but in the run blocking game as well.

and while we're at it.. Utah State's tallest CB is 5'11", one of which was our very own Daniel Gray..

2 big things that will help all these receivers:
TE & RB
specifically Hurd and Wolfe

I think those guys will throw a lot of quality blocks plus big play ability and keep the opposing d's from selling out on the pass. For once.
