As for myself, I like both teams (grew up in KY and got a degree from UT). Volnation has the best layout of any forum for either UK or UT in my opinion. Easiest to read and use.

vBulletin is fantastic. I don't know why every forum on the internet doesn't use it.

Plus Freak and his guys do a great job of moderation. Sites where they ban dissenting opinions/other teams' fans immediately are useless.

This is the main reason I fell I love with VN from the beginning. All opinions and all arguments welcome, regardless of affiliation. I your civil enough to keeps the gloves on without name calling, you can say your peace.

Well, he has Prez Lee Todd convinced this one will stay, so thats good enough for now. Woe to Cal if it does get stripped, as he will likely end up 10 ft deep in a Harlan hollow.

Not speaking for all of us, because a few of the UK fans on vol-nation are the type I try to escape by coming here. (Only 1 or 2, they stand out like sore thumbs) Every fanbase has their village idiots and homers, I see many of UT's here on VN eveyday posting. Its a part of sports, and a part of the fandom that makes college basketball great.

However, being a UK fan is a double edged sword. On one hand you have the most rabid, dedicated, hardcore fanbase in the college game. On the other hand, the sheer number of fans in the UK fanbase means that percentage wise your going to have more of the above when you combine rabid and hardcore with a limited intelligence of basketball and homerism. Not calling my fanbase stupid, its just a fact of life in ANY fanbase. On most Kentucky boards, especially the dumpster fire that is Catspause, its hard to talk common sense or even raise debate. As far as they are concerned, Cal is clean, we are going to win the next 25 titles in a row, and so forth.

Here on VN, I have the ability to receive input from minds outside of the UK program, and know the public perception of our program. I can also talk about the things I do not like, or the concerns I have with our program. I am a realist, and realist aren't very welcome in the UK sandbox.

There are many here on VN that I enjoy talking to and debating with, and lots of different conversations I can take part it. Of course I have to deal with the knuckle draggers on this site who run around calling me troll, and resorting to football jokes even when the conversation is about something totally different. But those are the lumps you gotta take when residing on the site of a rival.

I don't like Kentucky...I don't like Calipari...I have many times wondered why UK fans come on this site...You gave a great answer...I liked your comment about the loyalists thinking Cal is clean, apparently you don't...(I know, he never has been found guilty of anything but neither was OJ found guilty of butchering Ron Goldman and Nicole Simpson)...Anyway, you don't need it but you gained my respect with your answer...

I had the misfortune of being in Lexington last week. I am awe inspired by how serious you guys take your basketball. I even saved the newspaper from when I was there to show my family how fanatical ky fans are about it. I remember when that's how football was treated in TB. With any luck it will be again with the emergence of Bray.

Cal's history speaks for itself, whether he's cleared or not. However, this type of stuff goes on at most all elite D1 blue blood programs, and people are kidding themselves if they think otherwise. We take the heat because we hired him, and thats something Cat fans have to live with, or either live in denial (like most do).

I'm a crazed lunatic CAT fan myself, but luckily I smacked into the common sense branch when I fell out of the tree.

Came across this today as well:

Our father who art in Kentucky, let basketball be thy game. Seven bannners won, the eighth to come, in Rupp as it is in Big Blue Nation. Give us this day our defensive efforts and forgive us our turnovers as we forgive those who were seeded against us. Lead us not into a shooting slump and deliver us from bad officiating. In the name of Rupp, and Hall and the spirit of Bill Keightley. Amen.

Must be lots of UK fans with WAY too much time on their hands. Just saw this little gem:

Twas the night before Madness and all through the land,
Not a team left unshaken by Jorts and his band.
The posters were plastered on locker room walls,
In hopes that a meeting would not soon be called.

When down there in Tampa arose such a fuss
The whole team from Princeton was sent to the bus!
Then several days later as if right on cue,
The Cats sent ‘em packin, those Mountaineers too!

Then Cal skipped his way to the New Jersey shore,
For a meeting they said was the Cats final door.
But Jorts had a plan as he threw the ball in,
And it bounced off a chest and the Bucs couldn’t win.

Living large were the Cats’ Mr. Knight and his crew,
Then came the Tar Heels with Houston in view.
“Take Three” from the corner said ‘Dre as he shot,
And then Carolina knew Houston was not.

Now Final Four Dancing, it has been a while,
But Cats and their fans, it don’t matter the miles.
Be lookin’ for Kemba, his Conn artists’ too,
The Cats will be bringin’ its defense for you.

On Brandon , on Lamb, and on Jonesy too,
Got Miller and Jorts, and they’re bringing the crew.
Now Liggins and Vargas then go to “The Hood”
The seeding they gave us was much less than good!

So See you in Houston now Mr. Calhoun,
And practice real hard cause it’s comin’ too soon.
The team you will dance with, they just woke up late,
But they’ll have ‘em laced up, they want Number 8!

The Press Conference is to announce that all Kentuckians will be receiving vouchers for a new Oral-B Pulsar Toothbrush.
:)

Thank You! Absolutely priceless! haha

I would build an arena that held 30 or 40,000 people. UK fans would still pack that place.
