Pretty bad choke job

I don't put this one on Holly. This one is on the players. Reynolds shooting with a ton of time on the shot clock at about 2:30 to go in the game, then Nared turns it over trying to get inside. Reynolds with the push off coming across half court and Nared dropping a rebound that was in her hands. The last 5 to 6 minutes of regulation was like the Keystone cops. The team just went brain dead and started to panic. Very tough loss when this game was already won.

Well, I'd like to hear Holly's reasons for several things: 1-No zone in the 2nd half even when Walker was going off, 2-No Russell, Moore, or Graves in the game on defense on the last possession of regulation, 3-No Dunbar at all in the 2nd half and then she's thrown in at the last second and expected to hit a 30 footer. The players froze and played not to lose, but their coach didn't put them in a very good position to win in the 4th qtr IMO.

They stopped playing Zone and started playing man to man and we all know who's idea that was.

The mental game is hurting the LV's as much as the physical mistakes. The LV's blow a 10-point lead on the road at Kentucky and lose by 1. They blow a 12-point lead on the road at MSU and lose by 2 in OT. Now today they blow a 13-point lead on the road and lose by 5 in OT.

These were winnable games. They have to find a way to clear the hurdle of being afraid to lose.

Hardly worst coaching job ever. Losing on a higher-ranked opponent's home court. Are you kate to the party? Losing in the first round to Ball State is easily the bad standard.

A&M was jumping. UT was heads down. So what if they were competitive. Again. They lost. Again. They have lost three road games by a combined eight points.

"It was a great game. A&M finished it out. We could not hold on,” Warlick said. “They did some great things down the stretch there and we did not.” Sounds clueless, coach. If non one is hitting, why not put the long-range shooter back in and unclog the middle? When you till had a nine-point lead.

Bye-bye national ranking for the first time in since 1985.

The home wolves are howling, Warlick has slipped from the coronation of an heir-apparent (they did not interview anyone else in deference to the ailing Pat Head Summitt) to a sudden question of why hire an assistant with no head coaching experience.
They are fifth in conference, 5-5, yet to play South Carolina.

I say don't worry be happy. Holly is not the answer to Tennessee Lady Vol basketball. If you want to be a fan lower your expectations. We are in a situation where she has full support of the AD no matter what happens on the court.

I'd like to add that she should have had Cooper and/or Deshields in when tAMu started pressing at the end.

Your #2 was IMO the worst decision. How could you not have any rebounders on the court on such a critical possession?

The size differential looked like our football team vs Western Carolina. It is unfathomable to me that this game could make it to OT.

I don't expect a change this year regardless. I have a feeling that the AD is stuck between a rock (free falling program) and a pack of influencer$ on the inside and outside of the Department. The same force most likely behind the Lady Vol uproar.

Holly will get next year IMO.

The only way that the UTAD might get rid of Warlick is if season ticket sales start dropping for 2017 and future seasons after that.

The fans are being punished for something we are unaware of?

Holly is not the answer. If everybody who are rolling with Holly would go back to the start of the 4th quarter to end of regulation to see how undone the LVs became. A 13 point lead gone in a blink of an eye. Not implementing the right players to counter TAMUs move. And the BIGGEST MISTAKE of the game was NOT playing Kortney Dunbar ANY minutes in the 2nd half. Forget OT.

This loss is all on Holly. When will the Holly rollers WAKE UP?

I'm so sad for Tennessee. I saw glimpses of great things out on that court today. Mercedes looked to have turned a corner and played aggressive. Jordan and Andraya played great most of the time not all just most. Nia got into the game and played along side Mercedes (Big Bonus). The main issue was finding success for the team and Holly doesn't know how to do that. Game after game it's telling. She's in over her head. Not given Kortney Dunbar any minutes in that 4th quarter was beyond incompetency. Fire Holly, NOW!:)

sounds like Warlick made some especially dumb decisions tonight. If somebody on the other team is killing you, you have to adjust your defense--go to a zone, see if it works. If you have a player that makes three treys in the first half, how do you not play her at all, hardly, in the second? Etc. We've been mentally weak ever since Warlick took over--recall the Louisville debacle--absolute mental meltdown before the first half was even over. disaster.

I thought this thread was about Marco Rubio and how bad he choked but I see your point about the lady vols.

Andraya didn't do much of anything yesterday. Her highlight was passing the ball to the side of Diamond's head when DD was telling another player to cut. And the Defensive Specialist let Courtney Walker go off for 29 points.

Jordan was better. She scored well for 3 quarters, but had 5 TOs...one of them being a critical offensive foul as regulation was winding down. There was a point late in OT where she had an open shot to cut the lead, and passed up on it. It's almost like no one wants to take the last shot, except for Te'a or Diamond.

Last shot? Te'a and Diamond want to take every shot! It doesn't matter that few of them go in. They just want to get theirs. Te'a is now shooting 35% for the season. Diamond is at 39%. Are those the two players on the team who you want to take the most shots? They lead the team in field goals attempted.

Yes, it is. Because at least they are willing to take the shot.

And yet Te'a & Diamond aren't allowed on the floor most of the 4th quarter and rarely are they allowed to play together. If you noticed during the stretch when TAMU was making their run, Diamond was the only person standing up (pretty much coaching) she was also the only one encouraging the women who were on the floor yet she gets labeled as not being a team player. I think she is a person who hates to lose and she feels she can't do anything about it because Holly doesn't want her to be the star of the program she would prefer Russell to be but Russell has star talent but not is not star material (personality/off this court wise) imo

Part of the reason why Diamond's shooting percentage is so bad is because the team throws it to her with about 5 seconds on the shot clock and expects her to do something.

I'm worried about Diamomd she seems seriously depressed.

Yup! It's like she is looked to to be the savior! Every one is expecting her to "carry" the team but it's hard to carry a team when the coach doesn't know how to coach and the players don't know their role.

You get what you pay for out of a coach - unless you employ HW. Embarrassing misuse of talent all season.

It's easy to blame Holly, and we should, but when your "best players" (Deshields, Nared and Cooper) go a combined 8-31, that won't cut it. Why are they taking so many shots? That DOES go back to coaching. Players who cannot score should not be taking shots. It's not rocket science.

If they don't take shots, they definitely won't score. Some people...:disappointed:

You hit the nail on the head imo. The same blue-wearing protestors and petition-backers are steadfast Holly supporters (or enablers, if you will). They see CHW as the divine extension of Pat Summitt and they'll be right back on Dave Hart's doorstep if he even hints at exploring other coaching options.

There is a ton of irony there - the same crowd carrying signs saying "Save Our Lady Vols" are hell bent on sinking the program.

Well I wont speak too soon but in a couple of years the golden boy will be at the helm. He is currently 4th in his conference and his team has won 7 out of their last 10. He has 3 blowout losses this year (Miss St. by 30, Wisconsin by 14 and UCLA by 11) they are currently 12-9 and 7-3 in their conference, he had a solid recruiting class last season and has a good class for the 2016 class (which Holly got 0 recruits so far) he also has La Tech in the running for a top 50 recruit (La Tech made it into her top 5) and has the 3 overall recruit (according to Hoop Gurlz) interested as well (Has La Tech in her Top 10 choice) that says a lot for him and Mickey (who I am sure would come with him if offered the job here). People wanted to see if he can get it done. With the way their schedule is the rest of the way and the way we have been playing, he could possibly have his team in the tournament and we miss it altogether. (Will be easier for him to win his conference than for us to win ours based on our current play)
