Price cut by Dallas

10-4 on that...but PP got caught up in the same thing Alvin Harper did...thinks he's a no. 1, but is slowly finding out he's a #2 in the NFL....

he's still got plenty of chances left....there are many teams needing a receiver...

I know Steve Smith and Jake Delhomme could use a true 2nd guy....still searching for another guy on that offense, and with as much attention as S. Smith is getting now, he'd have opportunity.... :cross: but he's going to have to lose the ego....

I'm a Vol fan as much as the next guy, but c'mon, he wasn't the next coming of Stanley Morgan.  He made a big catch in the NC game, but outside of that, he didn't dominate.

That catch alone would make him one all time greats in my book, but he did much more than that. How about the 160 yds he got against Auburn in the 97 SEC championship. His stats 147 receptions for 2,298 yards, 19 tds rank him in the Top 5 alltime at Tenn.

PP put up numbers pretty much equivalent to those of Moulds while they were together. They were more of a tandem than a #1, #2. Defenses would try to cover one, and Bledsoe hit the other... PP is not a bad reciever, he just didn't get the looks in Atl and Dallas, but he can't be a dominant #1 like people hoped he'd be.

As has been said earlier, he was at his best as the #2 guy in Buffalo, and the two place he's been since haven't had that need.  He'll land somewhere, but we're very unlikely to be reading about his All-Pro selection any time in the future.

Peerless Price is 4th on the Vols all-time receiving list (147 receptions) and 3rd on the Vols all-time receiving yardage list (2298 yds). His 1998 season ranks as the 6th best season in Vols history with 61 receptions for 920 yards and 10 TDs.

You are correct that his best season's in the NFL were with Buffalo. His last 3 years at Buffalo he started every game. His 4th and final season in Buffalo, he had 94 receptions for 1252 yards and 9 TDs. He was selected to the Pro-Bowl.

He followed that season up in Atlanta with 64 receptions and 838 yards in 15 starts while Michael Vick was out most of the season. Vick returned and Price's production dropped to 45 receptions for 575 yards.

Price had an offseason injury and before he could recover the Falcons cut him. The Cowboys picked him up, where he ascended to the 3rd receiver position by the 7th game and even started the Cowboys 8th game against Arizona. In his last 5 games, Price had 5 receptions for 97 yards (19.4 avg).

Prior to this season, Price had started no less than 15 games in a season for the past 5 seasons.

However, the Falcons thought he was a locker room distraction. So do the Cowboys...

One telling quote after the Eagles game at Texas Stadium says plenty. As the rest of the Cowboys celebrated a shocking blowout win, Price's comment was, "I don't care if we win by 50 or lose by 50, I just wanna play."

Ironically, Price would have most likely been traded prior to the trade deadline if Patrick Crayton had not gotten hurt. That was how Price got his oppty. However, Crayton was slated to return this week and so the Cowboys cut Price.

Maybe Nick Saban will give him a call and he could be wearing a Dolphin jersey next year!
