Don't remember the Blast. An old patient of mine helped form the TN Valley Vipers football team. I've never been to a game, but I know people who do and really enjoy it. I think they've done pretty good. A kid who used to help me and my dad haul hay was on that original team. But the key to success is win baby. I've heard the guys at the small town teams like Huntsville only make about 30 K a year, but I haven't heard lately. Is this true?

I don't think they make very much. To illustrate, use the Tennessee Valley Vipers (Huntsville's Arena2 team). I spent my college years in Huntsville, and a year and a half ago (between college and law school), I worked at Two Men and a Truck. I worked with three guys that played (two of which were starters). They were working there as part-timers to supplement their income.

Please do! Let me know if you can make it and you can sit in the owners box(free Hooters wings and beer!)

Haha! I'm always up for some indoor football in Illinois. I go to a lot of Quad City Steamwheeler games each year. But they've sucked since the first couple of years, that was when they didn't know they couldn't pay pro players. Heh.

Unfortunately, though, I'm a good long ways from Springfield with a truck that wouldn't make it down there. Good luck!

I hope you do better than the Huntsville hockey team here in the Tennessee Valley. They started off as the Channel CAts; changed owners and became the Tornado. Went defunk; came back as the Havoc a couple of years ago. I submitted to the name the team website. I don't know why they didn't pick the one I liked " the puck yous." I got the idea from a hockey team in Georgia "the Macon Whoppi".

I lived in Macon for a few years and the Whoopi games were awesome. You can't beat three for one beers on Thirsty Thursdays. Unfortunately they changed the name to the Macon Trax a few years ago. The rugby team in Macon is the Macon Love. And the indoor football team is the Macon Knights which was submitted as a joke to play on the term Maconite (one born in/lives in Macon)

Matt was the starting QB at Purdue back in the 90s. Why not try out this year...you can always come down to Springfield and tryout!

Well, as much as I would love to, I'm not in the physical shape that I need to be to try out, and I'm in school right now. How 'bout I take ya up on that offer next year, eh?
