Problem With Pearls Team

He's a better rebounder, better athlete, better scorer, and better defender. He deserves to play over Pearl, and it's not even close.
What is interesting about Pearl Jr. is why he is getting the playing time he does. I have a theory about this and it makes me ill.

BP knows he is history, why not let his kid get his thrills? Think about the implications of that.:yuck:

S. Pearl is the least of our problems. It's pathetic how people use him as a scapegoat.

I think Pearl probably is a small problem, but I agree that people here are piling on and blowing it totally out of proportion.

You want to diagnose the problem with the team? Start with guards who can't shoot outside or pass, and a center who can't hold on to the basketball.

I agree. My point was if it's a decision on whether to play Maymon or Pearl, you play Maymon all day every day.

Steven Pearl played when they were winning. Now that he is spending more time on the bench, the team could not beat a good high school team. Steven Pearl is a solid player, rebounder, defender, and scrapper. He is not the problem. One of the main problems is lack of defense.

This has to be a joke!!! He plays 12+ min per game and average 1.1 rebs per contest - Maymon plays about 8 min per contest and averages 4+ boards per game. SP hustles but I would not consider him a "stopper" for our team but he is a great stopper for our offense. In those first couple losses seemed like each time he was on the floor the other team made a run and we went in a FG drought.

SP offers NO value to this b/ball team and deserves as much time as T. Summitt and other walk-ons but b/c daddy wants his boy in there just like little league so he plays its sad.

I said for the most part. He's been good for the program, breathed some life back into it. He's not a good x's and o's guy. Those teams lived and died by the press and the 3 ball. This team wants to play half court because the personnel dictates that now. It's hit or miss anymore with what you get. The problem with this Pearl team is the coach and that's my opinion.

Last year's team didn't press the last half of the season and if Pearl wanted to press he has the right personnel to do so. It's been well documented that Pearl listened to some good advice and agreed that pressing teams do not go deep in the tourney.
