We should be able to celebrate win #800 on August 31st against Austin Peay. This is a milestone for the program though this should have happen 4 or so seasons ago. But still it's nice to have another elite statistic that is good to be a part of.

GO VOLS!!!

How many other teams can boast of having 800 wins?

10 other NCAA teams currently have 800 or more wins. Yale, Harvard, and Penn are the only non-FBS teams to achieve the feat.

Michigan- 903
Yale-871
Texas-866
Notre Dame-865
Nebraska-856
Ohio State-837
Oklahoma-831
Harvard-829
Alabama-827
Penn-823

Thanks for this MSUDuo. Your list includes those victories recognized by the NCAA. Penn State has 828 victories but more than 100 were vacated due to the recent scandal. Bama had 848 but had to vacate a couple of dozen or so because of all of their shenanigans over the years...

We should celebrate as a fan base. This is a very prestigious group of schools we are about to join. This will maybe open the eyes of all the nay-sayers trying to call UT a second tier school. For any program to tally up 800 wins or more all time is something to tip your hat to. I don't care which school it is, that's something to be proud of as a fan.

Top 10 all time in every major statistical category. Simply add this to the list.

Awesome that this milestone will coinside with Butch's first win...I think we can all agree that we hope he gets us to 900 as well.

We will be one of two schools from the SEC. Definitely an elite list. I wonder what kind of press we will get when it happens. It will be interesting to see if ESPN comments on it. Butch should use this as an opportunity for positive press to help in recruiting!

How does this add to the top 10 list? UT is 11th and will still be 11th when they hit 800.

I would love to see UT hit 900 in much less time than between 700-800. UT went from 600-700 in a very short time, before 12 game regular seasons.

I'm talking D-1 schools. Sorry bro, but I don't look at ivy league schools winning 800 games as being in the same league as Bama, UT, Ohio St. Etc. we are top 10 in every major statistical category of all D-1 programs. Really doesn't matter if you like it or not.

Do you see ten D-1 schools in front of us? Do you hold an ivy league school winning 800 games in the same class as everyone else on that list? Laugh out loud.

Well, those Ivy league schools were powerhouses back in the day. Hell, all of college football can be traced back to an Ivy League school.

In 2013, are they in the same football class as Bama, OSU, etc.? No. But you either look at history or you don't. You're simply picking and choosing which part of history to look at.

Is UT one of the top all-time programs? Absolutely. Have they been a top program recently, no.

I actually made a simple mistake by not stating top 10 D-1 programs in my original post. That's actually what I was getting at, it was. So no I'm not picking and choosing. TIFWIW and quit being a dik EVERYTIME you respond to one of my posts. It's getting played out. It's been played out.

Now you're just arguing for the sake of arguing.

Yale, Penn and Harvard in terms of football don't mean anything compared to the level of competition of the NCAA. It'd be just like UT claiming SEC Division Titles compare evenly to NFL Division Titles.

It's not even close to the same. Give it up.

I was simply looking at the list of D1 teams with over 800 wins that someone else posted. There were 10 teams on it. When UT gets there against APSU, there will be 11. That's all.

I didn't get into dismissing this team or that team.

Then, we'll talk about Div-1A and Div-1AA since you want to be technical.

UT will be the 8th Div-1A (aka the only one people care about) school to reach 800 wins.

Great! Again, I was simply looking at the list someone else posted. I have no idea if it is correct, or not.

LOL. Ken Sparks has 300+ wins and 6 NCs. I guess he's a better coach than Saban. I mean him doing it at Carson Newman doesn't matter now does it?

I personally know Sparks, not a shot at him.

And Alabama is the only other SEC team to do it, and, it's only been done since Saban has been their coach. Had they never hired Saban, I think the argument exists that they'd still be sitting at sub-800 as well. It's a pretty big feat for an SEC team to accomplish this because of the sheer competitiveness of the conference itself.
