Projected starters for 2013?

I'm actually excited to see us play. I think we can win 9 games. It would be better if Hunter, Patterson, and Bray stayed with us but I still believe we have a solid receiving core and they should do fine, even though I'd like to have Patterson at special teams and wildcat (if Butch runs it).
Defensively, I feel we have the talent and the experience to have a solid defense, it is the matter if the boys can improve (which they should from last years horrible figures but you never know).
The most interesting, exciting, and scary part is the QB position. If we can get a QB who can be dependable, doesn't even have to be a NFL potential athlete but someone who can be accurate and someone who can finish in the stretch kinda like McCarron

QB: Worley
RB: Neal-Graham really likes Neal, depending how off season goes, look for Neal to start.
Wr: Bowels
Wr: Howard
Wr: Dallas
TE: Downs/Croom- Not sure how much we will use the TE in his offense, but both of the guys are athletic, so they probably wont be your traditional TE and line down.
LT-Richardson
LG-Jackson/Kerbyson/Posey- Jackson may not have this down on lock. Even though Jackson may have more experience, and more powerful, zone blocking requires a little more athleticism, and Posey was recruited hard by Cincy.
C: Stone
RG: Fulton
RT: James

LDE: Miller- For missing spring practice and playing more of a role player this past season int the 3-4, I was impressed with him. If he has a good off season, this guy may surprise some people.
DT: McCullers- Will eat up the middle
DT: Sentimore- Needs to be disruptive
RDE: Smith-he is on the hot seat, if he doesn't shine, Williams will get the nod
WLB: Maggit- L.Lewis will help out often if there are health issues
MLB: Johnson
SLB: Sapp- He has a lot of speed, and I know Jancek wants us to get to the ball, and fast.
CB: Coleman
CB: Riyahd Jones/ Gordon/Gray
FS: Moore
SS: Randolph
-I have no idea for the secondary, this will be a complete toss up, and is bonner with the team or not?

I find it baffling that your top priority for a Quarterback is his ability to run. Shouldn't we go with the guy with the best and most accurate arm? Running is just a bonus in a QB.

versatility at qb is becoming the norm in all of football... gotta have a qb that can scoot, adds another dimension.. IMO

WLB: Maggit

I think that Worley gets the nod going into fall, but Peterman beats him out to start against Austin Peay.

It makes no sense to me that with these players we can't beat Vandy, Kentucky, Missouri, and even Auburn in the SEC.

Coaching.

They scored enough points in several games but the defense was not coached to develop whatever potential they had.

I would say it's pointless to have any kind of depth chart for this team until before the season starts at the end of next August. You have player attrition--guys who may or may not transfer--on top of who we might add on signing day....One thing I already like that Coach Jones is doing is adding guys in the secondary...guys with speed. This team --the whole philosophy and attitude is going to look different come next year and I for one am excited to see the product. I really hope the bottom line is we improve by playing within a coherent system (both offensive and defensive) and the players play with accountability and intensity. Another thing that I hope is that Jones teaches these players how to handle adversity on the football field. I think MANY many times in the Dooley tenure we saw these players go into a shell every time they got punched in the mouth. They were pretty fragile...hopefully Jones can get this out of these guys. I really have belief after watching some pretty crappy football the last three years! GBO!

THANKS VOLNATION AND i hope All VOLS( and the yankees&even bammers-1/3 of my fam is in Bama) had a MERRY CHRISTMAS! It was certainly exciting reading this thread. I was very concerned with our WR,DB,&RB positions. QB IS MOST IMPORTANT,OF COURSE! I think Worley or Peterman will do great with the coaches we now have. We have SEC talent at ALL positions, and I see us winning 8-10 games! People underestimate the importance of coaching! I thank everyone for their input and assistance! GO VOLS!
