I’m hearing they knew there were live rounds on set. Just rumor right now but if so, and he knew that was a possibility, then that’s at the least manslaughter. I would imagine this film is canned and the lawsuits will be flying soon

He was handed a gun that was declared "cold".

I don't see that as manslaughter for him unless he was doing something stupid like pointing it at the Dir of Photography as a joke or something.

If charges are to be filed it will be more in the nature of why was this mistake made and how did the gun contain a live round.

He pointed a gun and killed someone. It’s his job as the man who holds the gun to assure it’s not a live round. It’s manslaughter

His contract no doubt expunges him from any liability as long as he's performing within the parameters of the script and/or the direction of movie personnel.

That not applicable to criminal charges.
Bingo. It’s fire arm safety and his responsibility as the possessor of the hand gun. Dummy round or not it’s his fault. And since he hates guns it’s no wonder he’s an idiot when it comes to gun safety

You think they could find him grossly negligent if he was perfectly following directions? Honest question, no vitriol. I have no dog in this fight, just interested.
I think they can find him at fault for sure. It’s a real firearm and his responsibility

Maybe. But this is such an unusual situation I have no idea

Gotcha. I don't think anything will ultimately happen to him, but this thing about the crew being apparently mistreated and a bunch of them leaving the set in protest shortly before the incident...I think there's something to that.

I find it extremely unlikely Baldwin personally, as the actor, will face criminal charges. From some of the things I've been hearing liability as a producer is certainly on the table.

You're reaching. He's an actor. He isn't trained to use a firearm. In his mind the weapon is harmless, as it should be.

there's a chance for negligence on the set

definitely ripe for a civil suit from the victim's family

Wrong it’s a real fire arm with known live rounds on the set. He knew that. He’s at fault here 100%

I’ll add this as well. If you are handling live fire arms, actor or not, I guarantee you should be trained. If you aren’t that doesn’t excuse you. It’s your responsibility of the person holding the weapon to know how to handle it. You don’t get a pass. It’s a lethal weapon and your responsibility to know how to properly check, handle, and discharge the weapon
