First off there was 9 minutes left to go, and against a fast break offense. I am not going to bash Shula, but i do feel the game was in hand. If this is the only negative thing you guys can find on Bama then bash away, but it will your ass in three weeks that is handed to you.

Prothro is a great player. I hate to see anyone get hurt but its good for us.

I agree that anytime any player is hurt its bad no matter who you holler for, however this bama loss just may have saved the game for the Vols. I dont see any DB on our roster who could cover this kid.

i dunno. its up there with the worst. but its hard to beat willis mcghahe's leg injury in the 2003 fiesta bowl againt ohio st

i think it beats that too. mcghahees leg knee was twisted but this looked just as sick. actually this injury (pothros) reminds me of ed mcaffery's in monday night football a few years ago.

I still haven't seen it. Was it any worse than LT breaking Joe Theisman's leg?

Ive only seen the clip 2-3 times, But the one view when he rolls over and grabs his calf and the foot and about 5" of leg just dropped

Just from the tv angles etc, It looks as though the Fibula and Tibia both have snapped :dunno: . I hate it really bad for the kid, im not even sure thats one you come "back" from?

That was what I was thinking.....He may have ended his pro career before it even started....I'm surprised Croyle hasn't gotten hurt before now....As injury proned as he is

Here's a thread with the vast majority of posts praising a Bama player and lamenting his loss to a horrible injury.

You manage to make it a smack talk thread. Sheeesh!

Here are some still's of the injury. It looks like a pretty high break.

:yikes: that has to be a top five worst injuries of all timem, maybe the worst.

In my mind, that is a career ending injury. A guy I went to high school with had a really bad break that required pins, like this one will. He was never the same. The guy went from being one of the fastest players to one of the slowest. He never ran the same again.

Pins are very different from plates. I have not heard any updates on the injury. I am no orthopedic surgeon, but pins are used for joints.

Prothro, had his ankles taped, The break appeared to be inches above the tape. IMO (again) looks as if the fibula and tibia broke?
I would suspect other interior damage, the way he landed and the lower leg folded.

His injury will probably require steel rods and pins. It will more than likely take several years for him to get somewhat back to normal. I feel bad for him and I wish him the best of luck in a speedy recovery.
