“I believe if Alabama and Tennessee played each other again — even with Hendon Hooker being healthy — I think Alabama would win the game,” said Pruitt. “But if I was choosing over those two, and I was on the committee, I would choose Tennessee for the simple fact that Tennessee won head to head. They also beat LSU, which Alabama lost to LSU.”

Jeremy Pruitt takes a side in the Tennessee vs Alabama rankings debate

Pretty bad when even the Gump admits we're getting shafted

The “if they played again” argument is the worst take. A game was played and one team beat the other. This hypothetical rematch is irrelevant.
Agreed since when did this become a criteria and if that’s the mindset why even play games. Just let Vegas set the NC at the beginning of the year and play one game. I bet if LSU and AM play again LSU wins, therefore their 3rd loss shouldn’t count and LSU should still be ahead of Bama. If Utah played UF again they don’t lose. So deduct that loss and move them into the top 8.

All this talk about rematches is worthless hot air that can't be proven for the simple fact that there will not be a rematch and we aren't going to play them 4 or 5 times or even 50 with Joe Milton.

"If we played again" of course is relevant for reminds based on predictive models. Naturally the CFP ranking isn't that, and it's intended to be a ranking based on performance. In reality it's entirely based on the feelings of the voters.

Alabama lost to LSU. The LSU that is currently being castrated in Atlanta. When the dust settles they aren’t any more impressive than the South Carolina team that just broke playoff contender Clemson’s 40 game home win streak.

what most everyone is missing is that the CFP committee is going by the "Any Given Day Theory" for selection of teams.

the "any given day theory" says that any team can beat any other team on any given day. That lets the committee say "we feel like TN beat Bama on any given Saturday but that does not mean they are the better team". And we feel this way because TN star QB is hurt and now any given Saturday we feel TN is more likely to get beat.

Pruitt doesn't have basic understanding of the English language but even he can read the selection criteria...

Good thing we got those pesky football games to settle things that aren’t hypothetical.

Who is going to Pruitt for an opinion on anything?
Obviously idiots in the media who uses his stupid takes as click bait. I could understand asking a former coach like Johnny Majors (rip) about his take on a big matchup, but this is just getting moronic.

exactly, and what exactly has he or anyone seen from Bama since then that makes them think they'd for sure beat UT with a healthy #5 back there? What, I beg someone to tell me, has Bama done that people find so freaking impressive? Someone please help me. I'm not arguing UT for the CFP, but I can't argue Bama over them either.
