Pruitt on Bama/UT CFP rankings

exactly, and what exactly has he or anyone seen from Bama since then that makes them think they'd for sure beat UT with a healthy #5 back there? What, I beg someone to tell me, has Bama done that people find so freaking impressive? Someone please help me. I'm not arguing UT for the CFP, but I can't argue Bama over them either.
Nap time for you.

Why the F is anyone interviewing Pruitt? Sounds like some desperate "journalism" right there.

what most everyone is missing is that the CFP committee is going by the "Any Given Day Theory" for selection of teams.

the "any given day theory" says that any team can beat any other team on any given day. That lets the committee say "we feel like TN beat Bama on any given Saturday but that does not mean they are the better team". And we feel this way because TN star QB is hurt and now any given Saturday we feel TN is more likely to get beat.

They should just draw names out of a hat.

The “if they played again” argument is the worst take. A game was played and one team beat the other. This hypothetical rematch is irrelevant.
Exactly. And just what was Pruitt's opinion of who would win the game we actually did play? I am certain he thought Bama would win that too, and he would be wrong. So, I really don't care one iota about who he thinks would win in a rematch.

“I believe if Alabama and Tennessee played each other again — even with Hendon Hooker being healthy — I think Alabama would win the game,” said Pruitt. “But if I was choosing over those two, and I was on the committee, I would choose Tennessee for the simple fact that Tennessee won head to head. They also beat LSU, which Alabama lost to LSU.”

Jeremy Pruitt takes a side in the Tennessee vs Alabama rankings debate

Pretty bad when even the Gump admits we're getting shafted

None of it matters because a 1-loss OSU and a 1-loss TCU get in ahead of any 2 loss team. If the Vols loss to SC had been close, they could make a case. However, they laid the biggest egg in the history of U-T football. On the other hand, both of 'Bama's losses were on the last play of the game. I am just happy to see the Vols will be going to a New Year's Bowl game. I'm hoping they match the Vols against Clemson, in the Orange Bowl. I want to watch the Vols run up the score on Dabo.

Alabama: Impressive in Defeat

Just a few years ago posters here were regularly ridiculed for celebrating "moral victories." I seem to remember "Moral Victory U" being a common trope. It seems "moral victories" are now something to be celebrated, so long as they're Bama's.

The most impressive points of their season really are the losses.

f*** Jeremy… he was/is always a bama homer.

so, Jeremy, did the tide cheat as much as you did at UT? If you can’t answer me, then just give us all a break and STFU! Stick with poker pal… you had a chance and failed.

for Commissioner Sankey - pleade ban this POS from ever coaching in the SEC again… either as a coach or coordinator… god knows the loser Tide fans want him back because they sure do love to cheat.

for NCAA - if this POS is hired by Bama, please put any/all sanctions you wanted to put against Vols to whatever SEC team decides to hire him.

Totally agree. Nobody has a clue what would happen if they played again.

This is the big problem with college football IMO. Way too impacted by people’s “feelings” especially those fools on ESPN. Who cares that Tennessee beat Alabama because they “feel” like Alabama would win if they played again. If their “feelings” were so determinative, they’d move to Vegas and clean up. But Oops, Herbie guaranteed Vanderbilt over Vols in a 56-0 drubbing.

Honestly, if we lose Coach Banks, Pruitt might actually be a good option for DC.

Lol this current D is better than what Pruitt was able to muster at Tennessee.

Pruitt’s D’s - Pruitt’s O’s
28 per game - 22 per game
22 per game - 24 per game
30 per game - 21 per game

OUCH

Margin of defeat and hypothetical rematches are nowhere to be found on the committee’s list of defined criteria. Tennessee has the exact same record as Alabama and beat Alabama. Tennessee should be above Alabama. Period.

But as a DC, without HC duties, his defenses were instrumental in multiple NC runs

Or was the talent?

Without the same talent
With just him to do whatever he wanted…..the D’s were BAD

I know he was a good DC; however how good? Was simply “he.”
