Psychedelic Drugs Being Used Medically

I do believe the drugs mentioned in this article should be legalized however drugs like shrooms, MDMA, & LSD are not for everyone. A novice user can easily become overwhelmed once they are consumed. The lingering effects especially for LSD can last for years or even a lifetime. Perception of reality becomes highly distorted. The high is nothing like weed where the buzz wears off in a few hours and You cap the night off with a few twinkies before passing out.

Is this personal experience?

The Psychedelic Revolution Is Coming. Psychiatry May Never Be the Same. (yahoo.com)

Thought the article was interesting. They've now done studies with psilocybin and MDMA(Ecstasy) with positive effects. If it helps people, doctors should have access to it IMO.
You ever get the feeling we are about to go into the summer of love again? Riots, racial division being pushed, psycodelics being reintroduced are just a few things that make me think we are in the script for " that 60's show."

Lol.

I'm legit afraid of what my brain would construct for me while tripping.
Same here.

I am for shrooms, dmt, lsd(more iffy on this one) being available in a controlled setting, prescription based but I think extensive studies should occur first. Depression, ptsd, etc have been reported as curable anecdotally so I'd like to expand the studies.

You are spot on. The legend of bad trip is not a legend. The psychological response or "tripping" is because your brain is being poisoned by the substance. People who are bitten by poisonous snakes report the same experiences. Alteration in sight, perception, hearing, paranoia and even thoughts of harming others out of the paranoia.
Those drugs should be controlled.

The people who are taking these drugs and having success aren't "tripping" because they are given just a very small dose.

Agreed.

LSD is one of the most powerful drugs ever discovered. There are no words to explain a trip to someone who has never tried it. Gain your own knowledge with caution ha! I would question any physician that would prescribe it if he or she had never taken it. The last time I dosed was when I was 18 almost 20 years ago. The trip lasted over 48 hours. Never had a bad trip or experience but the high from LSD is out of this world. I have never had the desire to ever partake again simply because it was just too much. I get my kicks now from espresso and wine.

I remember watching a documentary many years ago about people on a study with cluster headaches who were taking shrooms. It had a surprising affect on them. If they took shrooms once per month the frequency and severity of their headaches was reduced significantly according to almost all on this study.

I found that interesting because a long time friend of mine suffered from cluster headaches since he was a kid, he was born to deaf parents and doctors theorized it may have had something to do with genetics. More interesting that he was a recreational marijuana, shrooms and acid user. Also interesting that he broke from reality in the last 5 years of his life and went into seclusion. He was killed on Monteagle a few years ago, suicide by cop. Tragic story.

Mine was 36 years ago and had no desire to repeat it.
