Joe isn’t my favorite but the receivers didn’t help him any today. Far too many drops that hit their chest. It could go either way. It could force everybody to look in the mirror and make sure they all bring their absolute best focus in preparation of the game and carry that into the game.
But, it also brings to light what we were all concerned about going into the year. Which is Joe Milton is not a very good quarterback. The psychological make up of the team really doesn’t matter that much if nothing goes and air Mel’s 15 wide-open receivers throughout the game. And at this point you have to believe he’s more likely to do that than to hit all those open in shots.
It really felt like that was the only problem with the team today. Defense was firing on all cylinders, the run game was really good, receivers were running wide-open, return game was really good, etc.
But quarterback is the most important position by 10,000%. If your quarterback play isn’t good… Your team won’t be good. It’s that simple.
I agree with this. Next week defines the direction of our season. TAMU and Bama both look completely beatable. We beat Florida we are 6-0 headed into Tuscaloosa for sure and looking at undefeated heading into the Georgia game.Either way we will know all we need to about this team next weekend. I am still confidant they can put it together.
1000%. I don’t refer to him as jittery Joe for no reason.I think Tennessee needs to get off to a fast start. Joe gets rattled. Let's admit that. He's a problem for defenses when his confidence is up and he's playing loose. Joe tends to bounce back better from adversity if he starts well. If he doesn't it tends to snowball on him.
It's all about that first drive imo. He bounced back last week. Same in the Orange Bowl. I think the difference was we scored on the first drive and he knew he could do it against "this" team. So he had an easier time brushing it off.1000%. I don’t refer to him as jittery Joe for no reason.
I agree ideally but this team needs to learn to pull themselves together when they don’t get out to a fast start because we have a long schedule ahead and slow starts will happen again. If we (Milton) can’t figure that out then no, we aren’t going to reach our potential.I think Tennessee needs to get off to a fast start. Joe gets rattled. Let's admit that. Up to now I think CJH has been trying ensure that Joe stays healthy by limiting his runs. Starting with Florida I believe he will run when the protection breaks down.Coach JH won’t pull OTJ. He needs to run him. there is no way he should be sitting back in the pocket like a tree waiting to get cut down.
he looks intimidated to me.
Had they rather have Bamas performance, 2 picks and a loss? Whine, whine, whine. Saw lots of receivers yesterday on other teams dropping the ball that hit their hands or chest. Can't take anyone for granted. Yeah, I was expecting a 40 pt blowout with lots of 2nd 3rd stringers getting reps but not disappointed with a win.Lol it’s like y’all don’t even watch the game… drive killing drops never allow him to fully settle in he is a touch inaccurate so was hendon early last season he going to the right places and it’s hitting wrs in the hands the accuracy will continue to improve just relax wrs will catch the ball… JG the second is insane when he has 0 picks lol y’all are crazy man… nobody is satisfied with this performance but we will be just fine.
We think alike on this. I mean we're really criticizing like 4 bad throws out of 31 passes smh. No QB throws all perfect balls in a game. The drops are getting me because they are literally in their chest or right at the face mask. He is accurate enough to win with. Our WR's are all top athletes they gotta make plays. Seems like a lack of focus the first 2 weeks, because we are all pretty certain the talent is there.Joe isn’t my favorite but the receivers didn’t help him any today. Far too many drops that hit their chest.
I would clarify that as “passing game”. It takes two to throw and catch passes. It could go either way. It could force everybody to look in the mirror and make sure they all bring their absolute best focus in preparation of the game and carry that into the game.
