Sorry, but I am still pretty new to NCAA basketball.. What are the tournaments mid season like this for? Just to climb the rankings if you win? Do the games count for our season record? Thanks. Bring on my second season of NCAA B Ball! Our game against Asheville is on TV!

It's just basically to kick start the season. They don't really mean much of anything except bragging rights and they do count to your record.

Thanks, so let me get this straight... If it counts to your record, then if you lose early in a tourney, doesn't that disadvantage you because you won't play as many games? Is that sort of the point?

How important would it be to us to win this tourney?

Everyone plays the same number of games. If you lose you play the loser from the other game in your bracket.

Also, these tourney's are not middle of the season. For most teams these will be their 2 or 3 games at the start of the tourney. The NCAA allows an exemption for these pre-season type tourneys, so it is a good way for teams to play "extra" games. Now that everyone is doing it though, they really aren't "extra" any more.
