I'll address this once and then let you guys continue with your theory on Sumlin's lack of control.
We had a pair of kids that were bad apples from the start. One in particular was a damn fine defensive player. He became a cancer and created problems. Then another player, who had recently lost a child, fell victim to the same guy and proceeded to make poor choices along with the bad apple. Both were kicked off the team which dealt a pretty big blow to our already, youthful and considerably weak defense.
Then the case of the QB issues began to arise, to which Sumlin addressed privately. I doubt you'll ever see him take another snap at A&M.
Which brings us to the most recent events: yesterday's game. The player ejected for "targeting" did go in high, but I fail to agree that it was targeting. Considering his size in comparison to the wide receiver's, and the position in which he was in upon impact, he had two options while in the air: A: Try to descend and take a chance at breaking his own neck and the wide out's knees, or B: Lower his shoulder as best as possible while moving in the air. The actions after the ejection looked bad on tv, but I'm certain that WV did a ton of taunting on the field.
And lastly, the grad assistant has been removed from the program as of about 45 minutes ago. Told to stay in the locker room. Given an early flight home last night. Fired and removed from the program today.
So when you all elude that Sumlin has lost control and/or does not keep close tabs on his players, I elect to go against the grain and vehemently disagree with you.
