Jimbo, Kirby and Sark have all beat Saban. Heupel has beat him. Kiffin needs to do it. Not sure Ole Miss plays them next year but this is the best chance Kiffy has had since hes been there.

He’s already getting some “he can’t win big games” comments from the media. If he lays another egg, his “comments” won’t get the attention now that media has a new love in Deon.

I do believe that the shine is going to be fully off Deion after Saturday.

As much as I dislike Oregon, they are an actual decent football team-unlike the 3 opponents the Buffs have faced this season

Why would the shine be off him if they lose? I don’t particularly like the guy, but hell if they finish the season 5-7 that should be considered a remarkable success given what he took over.

How many big games does Lane actually need to win? He's at Ole Miss. They'll love him as long as he wins the games he's supposed to, scares the bigger opponents/occasionally upsets one, and runs his mouth on Twitter and in press conferences.

Kiffin is the likely replacement at Alabama when Saban decides to retire.

The shine won't be off him for a while. However, it will be interesting to see how the perception of his persona changes if he gets his teeth kicked in a few times, even if by good teams they are huge underdogs to.

The essence of Deion - his look, attitude, press conferences that are more like professional wrestling promos, etc., is only cool if he's winning, and his essence is the beginning, middle, and end of whatever program he's at. "The difference between insanity and genius is measured only by success."

I had them written down at 4-8 before the season. They may improve on that by a game or two.

My issue is not really with Deion. It's the media making the whole situation out to be the biggest story in the world.

Tired of it to be bluntly honest. So far the Buffs have beaten
1. A TCU team that lost virtually all it's starters from last year
2. A Nebraska team who also has a first year coach
3 A narrow win vs a G5 team.

They get through Oregon, USC,UCLA, Wazzu, etc then I will be impressed. Basically, I just want to see if they can actually beat a genuine football team and not a bunch of scrubs.

The media makes a big deal out of it because of the eyeballs on him. Have you seen the numbers? It is staggering.

The media follows, not leads, narratives for the most part.

Why are TCU and Nebraska a bunch of scrubs? Not a soul on earth was giving Colorado a chance to beat TCU in the opener. Hell there were predictions about TCU winning by 6-7 touchdowns. Both TCU and Nebraska were heavily favored over Colorado in the preseason. Plus, both are far ahead of the Buffs in the 247 talent composite. TCU is 19th and Nebraska is 21st. Colorado checks in at 35th. I do agree that the coverage is a little over the top, but an NFL hall of famer taking over a P5 program is going to generate a ton of interest. Let alone someone of Deion’s pedigree and status.

It will be interesting to watch Deion's reaction when they get beat up. Colorado is a house of cards built on cupcakes.

A bunch of people said they wouldn't beat those 3 and now a bunch of people are mad because they were wrong. Now they look silly saying they won't be impressed until he beats Oregon and USC.

Who cares if they're impressed? Dion has done a good job and that's a fact. Hate on him if you want but the media is the issue.

All the coaches you named beat Saban in 4 tries or less. This will be Kiffin’s 5th attempt, counting the one at UT. Even with the game being in Tuscaloosa I’m not sure he’s ever going to have a better shot than this one. He needs a signature win badly or else people are going to start to see him as more sizzle than steak, rather than some coaching prodigy.

Has Lane ever actually won any big games? He had a preseason Heisman lock (who didn’t make the stage at the end of the year) when he beat a lowly Tennessee team by the skin of his teeth, and he needed a favor from the refs to do that. He is a mediocre coach at a mediocre school, and a lot of people are fine with that. I’m fine with him being there for the next 20 years as well. Everyone else has moved on from him. He has been exposed for being what he actually is.
