Put up or shut up time for Kiffin

Has Lane ever actually won any big games? He had a preseason Heisman lock (who didn’t make the stage at the end of the year) when he beat a lowly Tennessee team by the skin of his teeth, and he needed a favor from the refs to do that. He is a mediocre coach at a mediocre school, and a lot of people are fine with that. I’m fine with him being there for the next 20 years as well. Everyone else has moved on from him. He has been exposed for being what he actually is.
Not really, but fortunately for him he's at a school where he doesn't really have to. Ole Miss does not expect to beat Alabama, LSU, A&M when they are good, etc. He's not at an elite program, and nobody really thinks of him as an elite head coach.

I totally disagree that it is time for him to "put up or shut up" in this game, because of the aforementioned reason. It's actually a great spot for him, because he's totally capable of meeting their expectations and it is unlikely that OM meaningfully raises their expectations.

Saban doesn't strike me as the type who cares who his successor is. If anything, a successor coming in and struggling would further highlight just how good he was.
Saban probably cares some because of his ego. If Bama drops off the table, you'll hear "Nick was slipping in his last years, recruiting was awful, the coaching wasn't good, etc."

If the next guy can go 9 - 3, it was Saban who made the difference to push them to a couple of extra victories. If the guy goes 7 - 5, you start to see "Did Saban leave a dumpster fire?"

Other than that, like Urban he'll probably get good money to sit at the desk and do about 0.005% of the work he's been doing and he doesn't want to have to answer "What happened to Bama?" every week.

Ole Miss didn’t hire him just wanting to be the usual Ole Miss. This is year 4 for him now and the closest thing he has to a signature win is over an 8-4 A&M team two years ago. This is his 5th crack at Saban as an SEC HC and he has still yet to beat him. No doubt their fans have paid attention to the fact that Jimbo, Sark, and Heupel all beat Saban in fewer tries than Kiffin has had.

If it is just another "usual" season for Ole Miss with a loss to bama then so what? I highly doubt Ole Miss could do better than Kiffin. Ole Miss has had 4 10-win seasons in the past 52 years from Kinnard (71), Cut (03), Freeze (15), and Kiffin (21). It is difficult to win in Oxford on a regular basis. Wouldn’t surprise me in the least if Kiffin bolts for another program after this year either.

Eh, "usual" Ole Miss is going 6-6. They hired him to be better than that I suppose, but they also don't expect him to win 9 or 10 games every year.

I do believe that the shine is going to be fully off Deion after Saturday.

As much as I dislike Oregon, they are an actual decent football team-unlike the 3 opponents the Buffs have faced this season
Here’s why the shine is still on him.
People can’t stop talking about him.
Here’s a thread on Kiffin and y’all turned it to Deion.

This is why Auburn ultimately chose Freeze. And no matter what the Ole Miss fans say, he was trying to pull a Tuberville on them.

One of the most overrated coaches ever. He's a tick over .500 in the SEC as a HC. he's 2-4 in bowl games. he's had 2 10 win seasons as a P5 coach and one was with Pete Carroll's players.
Yes, they were ranked 1 or 2 in the country at one point that year, mostly propped up by their preseason ranking. And that was before the sanctions ever had a chance to kick in. That team was loaded. Best chance he would ever have to win something, and he blew that.

Even Heupel beat Bama whom was a much better team than this one.

Kiffin once again, showing how much he is overrated by his fan club.
