As of now, it’s virtually impossible to accurately gauge the overall size and influence of the alt-right movement however the ability of the alt-right to unite as a group and infiltrate the political mainstream beyond the rise of Trump remains doubtful.

It’s unlikely a mainstream political candidate will ever embrace the alt-right entirely.
