Question: Has UNC EVER produced a QB that had even a minimal amountt of sucess in the pros?? (Did Roman Gabriel play for UNC or NC State? I forgot.)

Cutler is going to the next level. He is playing in the ACC. He doesn't have to go to an elite school to go to the league.
True but coming out of high school did Cutler have the same options this kid does and would he have chosen VU if he did I think we know the answer to that one.

At least UNC is capable of a decent season now and then... Even this last year, they beat BC and Virginia. Not too shabby. And in 2004, wins over NC State and Miami.

Gabriel graduated from NC State in 1962. UNC has not had a great track record for producing NFL qb's. They have had some All ACC perfrmers but nothing at the next level. UNC is better known for producing a long line of 1000 yard rushers

Don Mcauley, Amos Lawrence and Mike Voight in the 70's
Kelvin Bryant, Derrick Fenner, Ethan Horton in the 80's
Leon Johnson, Curtis Johnson, Natrone Means, Johnathon Linton 90's

anyone else find it strange that he went to unc when his brother plays b-ball at duke?

UNC and Dook have some weird connections:

Jeff Capel - Jason Capel brothers that played at each school

Gerald Henderson - Wayne Ellington...HS teammates, best firends, and Burger boys this yr..GH is going to Dook and WE is going to UNC

Greg Paulus - Mike Paulus..finally these two

Paulus will be quite the odd recruit for Carolina...Considering he can read and write, and has no known past felonies, I don't know how much he'll fit in as a Tarhole.

the past two years UNC has actually shown some signs of life in football....Bunting is finally winning over the fanbase and boosters, and w/each recruit, he's getting more and more able to sell what he's doing.

it's always baffled me why UNC hasn't had a better football program...the campus is beautiful, the atmosphere, while it could get much better, isn't terrible, and there is a fan base that would love it. The UNC football fans remind me of TN bball fans, in general anyway, they're there, but they need a winner to bring them out.....they've got facilities and a great academic reputation....and playing in the ACC these days isn't all bad when you get to play FSU and Miami every year...throw in a Va Tech and an occaisionally good Clemson, NCSU, GA TEch etc....and you've got some big time games to be played.

UNC is a team that this year could possibly finish 3rd or 4th in the ACC this season...with all the defections at NCSU and Clemson.....Va Tech lost some guys and MD, who knows what they'll be like.....they could realisticaly finish 4th behind Miami/FSU/Va Tech.....which for UNC wouldn't be too shabby at all....

And would prove that Bunting is on the right track....
