It seemed as if last years recruits (2009) were higher touted than this years crop. Matt Barkley, Tahj Boyd, Aaron Murray, that kid we were going to get that went to Stanford (who quickly I forget), and others. They seemed to be ranked higher in the Scout and Rivals as well.

Is this a weak year for QBs?

What positions are strong in this year's class?

DE seems really strong in the class, same for OL

But I wouldn't take the ratings as the gospel yet. Things will change a ton after the summer.

Well theres a few blue chippers like Jake Heaps, Blake Bell, Phillip Sims, and Austin Hinder, than you have guys like Jesse Scroggins who may be just as good, just not as publicized.

Youve already got the big names out there its the diamonds in the rough that could turn into the great ones.

What's up with Montana's kid? How good is he?

I saw that he visited, but no scholly was offered.

Matt Barkley was the reason the QBs were so hyped up. I like Philip Sims more than Barkley from a NFL potential prospective. Has a bigger arm and is more athletic. Haven't watched Blake Bell yet. Pretty sure he's a good player though.

Are you high? Oh wait, your just lockdown. Barkley has a ton more NFL potential than Sims. Barkley still has a good arm and is very accurate with his throws. He can also move around a bit, although you dont necessarily need to be the most athletic guy on the field to be a great QB.

There is no Matt Barkley in this class of QBs. I personally think Tajh Boyd is a better prospect than any of the 2010 prospects. Bell is good, but he is raw. He's a freak athletically, but he is raw.

It remains to be seen when talking about Barkley. Don't know if he's as good as his press clippings. He maybe but I want to see it. I watched him force a lot of ball when I watched him play the few times I did.

How does forcing the ball mean anything as to your prospects? That's a coachable aspect of QB'ing. Barkley is for real and he's one of the most "ready" QB's I've seen in awhile. He's polished. Sucks that he'll be buried in the depth chart at USC.

Who said it couldn't be coached out of him? And he's not ready to play right now. He's not that far off but he's definitely not ready.

I really like Scroggins. Watched several videos on him and he looked just as promising as any of the others. He didn't force anything, took what was there, bought time, made several impressive throws! Really seemed to have a presence about him, didn't look like a high school kid most of the time. Not sure, i just think there is something special with him, kind of "effortless" if you will.

i agree with ^.......bell has to be our number 1 target with qbs now. I have a feeling that he will be a vol. too many things lining up.

The more I watch Scroggins play the more I like him. I would like to to see him take more snaps under center though. I agree his throws look "effortless" even on the deep balls.

We can't forget that Heaps, being Mormon would possibly take a mission (Doesn't mean he has to, but it's probable). So Bell would at least be there for consecutive years progressing, with no risk of taking years off and having to get back into shape. Just a thought. I like Bell a lot. GREAT size.

I think Bell and Sims have the most upside and would put them up there with the QBs from 09.

I like Bell and Heaps simply because of potential. Sims is a little short if I'm not mistaken.

Heaps is on the lower end of the reasonable height for a QB (6'2).

If I'm right, I think Sims is an even 6'0.

Personally, I'd rather have the 6'6, Flacco-esque Blake Bell who doesn't need a step stool to see over the line.

Who cares how tall they are? As long as they get the job done, I don't care how tall they are. Tim Tebow is listed at 6'2 or 6'3 but standing next to Sam Bradford at the Heisman ceremony I'd say he's closer to 6'1.
