I've tried to read all the VN comments on the QBs just to see if my thoughts are off base. I'm really concerned where we are if Worley gets injured again. Peterman is just not a game day QB. Unless there is a total disaster, he should not see another game day snap. I have had concerns about Nate for a while now. He takes forever to make a decision. No OL against SEC DLs can give him the extra 2-3 seconds he needs. Also, he fixes on one receiver and doesn't make his reads.

It's apparent that the staff wants to redshirt Dobbs this year. Sorry. We don't have that luxury. I don't believe Dobbs is a SEC level QB. He will be serviceable if Worley goes down, but is not the future of the program.

This opens the door for Dormady and Jennings to come in and play right away next year. I didn't expect us to be in this situation for 2015. Right now, I'm surprised that there aren't 3-4 of the elite QBs calling CBJ to get on board. With this team rapidly developing into a solid contender, the opportunity for an elite QB is unlimited.

Now it's my turn to get beat up by the VN!!!!!:)

Thanks Dooley for wasting Worley's red shirt season... Great move!

I wish we could get some kind of senior grad transfer for next season. Maybe a juco comes out of no where.

Personally, I think Peterman will be fine once he gets all the reps with the first team offense. Makes a BIG difference!

Patience on Peterman folks.

Agreed. When Peterman went in against UGA, it was undoubtedly a fiasco. That said, it appeared to me that UGA's DC upped the number of blitzes because he knew Peterman was a new QB and the DC wanted to rattle him and our OL struggled with those blitzes. So, it wasn't Peterman's fault entirely since the OL was a sieve while he was in. Moreover, I think people underestimate how difficult it is to get into the game in the mid-3rd quarter against a very good opponent. Under the circumstances, I still think Peterman should have done better than he did but I do not think it is conclusive about his ability to perform better, especially since he took Worley nearly to the wire for the starting job this year (if rumors are true).

The problem with the situation is there is not clear solution. If you look at Peterman's in-game performance it is not impressive at all. I do not know if this because of the lack of game experience or just lack of talent. I would hope that the coaching staff would see this and fix it or get Dobbs ready to step up. If/when we get an elite quarterback they would need time to get reps. It would seem to me that either Peterman or Dobbs would have to start the first couple of games next year. That being said one of them needs to be ready to go now. Maybe when we are 50 up on Florida, (pure speculation not a real prediction) Peterman can get some more game day reps.

1. The things you say about Peterman are exactly the same things people were saying about Worley in the past. Excluding garbage time, he's only played in 2 games. We have to be patient with him.

2. Too soon to say that Dobbs can't be an SEC QB. He was thrown in the fire as a true freshman last year after Worley got injured. Like Peterman, we have to be patient with him.

3. I'd rather not have to rely on a true freshman to do well next year.

At the same time, Mike Bajakian should have realized what Pruitt would do vs a backup (bull rushing and force him to beat them). Peterman had a nice first series of play calling and then we went away from the quick passes for 5-7 yards. To me that shows just how good a coordinator you are cause Pruitt tipped his hat when he decided to go all out vs Peterman and we adjusted our calls away from those quick short passes.

Peterman has not been given a real chance to succeed. They threw him in last year at the swamp in his first start. Then on Saturday, Georgia just stacked the box and blitzed on every snap. He was fortunate to escape without serious injury. I really think that if the coaches had given him some playing time against the less-talented teams we faced early, he might have gotten some of his confidence back and turned out to be a decent QB. He has the physical tools to be good. I have not given up on the kid yet.

Never one to make excuses for our dearly departed former coach, but Bray had a broken finger iirc and it was just Matt (Take a Hit)Simms out there...there were no guarantees that Bray was coming back that season. With an eye on making a bowl, they HAD to get the freshman some snaps...no coach would have sent out a completely cold QB out there...I don't think he had a choice.

I know Butch has the attitude that no game is over until clock hits 00:00 but I wish we would have gave Peterman some playing time in the last 5 minutes vs OU to air it out to get those reps.

Clemson seems to be real happy with Deshaun Watson as a true Freshman at QB, although he was a #1 dual QB coming out of HS. Tenn may be looking at a similar situation if Dormady or Jennings are ready to take the helm. Will be interesting if one or both will be early enrollees. The early bird theory may fall into effect. Peterman needs a massive makeover and it may take another year for that to appear. Dobbs may be the safe bet, but not the answer. This team is just waiting for a QB that is a game changer. Worley has proven himself so far for his final season, just hope the O-line can keep him safe.

Both Jennings and Dormady are EEs.....thank God. Need them up to speed as quickly as possible and hope that Dobbs takes huge strides forward in the meantime. Daniel Lewis has written more than once, and I heard him say it again this morning on Basilio, that Dobbs has really improved his throwing accuracy and velocity this fall. Peterman simply is not the answer.

(1) Dobbs & Peterman will get plenty of reps during spring practice.

(2) Peterman will play against Chattanooga.

(3) Dobbs & Peterman will not make that much of a difference next season. They don't have to be hero's.

(4) Let Hurd, Kamara & Scott run the ball the first few games and take pressure off Peterman & Dobbs until the 5th game of the season, when Dormady will be named the starter.

(5) Let Wolfe & Helms catch the short passes from Dobbs & Peterman until Dormady is ready to start.

(6) Let the defense keep us in games or win games for us until Dormady is ready to start.

(7) Let Dobbs run the option at times and gain a few yards next season.

So, the defense, the running game and the short passing game will keep us together in the early part of next season until Dormady can be developed to do more. Just like we did with other freshmen, Manning, Ainge, Clausen & Bray.
Notice we went to bowl games during the freshmen season of Manning, Ainge (S.E.C. Championship game) Clausen & Bray.

He got "his turn" against Florida last year, and he got another chance on Saturday.

I've seen nothing that makes me believe he can handle the job on gamedays.

Remember the improvement that Crompton made from his junior to senior season?

See the improvement that Worley has made from his junior to his senior season?

Peterman can do the same also....

The way your minds work is fascinating. From the outside looking in you seem like an expert all things Tennessee. I should listen to more. Please continue from a moron perspective.

I bet a search of your history would show similar posts about Worley.
Having the ability to see your own shortcomings and grow from them is something that's very underrated. You should calm down and give Peterson the chance you probably never gave Worley.

Not a moron perspective. I gave you four examples of us having to start freshmen q.b.'s and it was not a disaster in either case.

I proved my point, so it is not moronic..... I have the facts to back me up............
