QB Situation Going Forward

Patience on Peterman folks.

Most definitely.

I think people should re-watch the game film of Peterman from Saturday.

During his first series, there was some real magic until the Peterman/Lane hand-off fumble in UGA territory.

During his second series he got popped for intentional grounding, but that was a heads up play with him also stiff-arming a defender on the run. On third and 20 he got sacked while throwing the ball.

During his third series he was pressured and/or driven into the ground on almost every play but still made a good pass completion to Howard that ended up short of a first down. Before the punt, a UGA penalty gave UT the first down. On third down he was blind-side sacked, again, and the ball came loose. Announcers say "wow, he has taken some shots" and "several of those hits have been brutal."

If anything, the stagnant performance wasn't on Peterman, it was on the team (OLine) appearing deflated (maybe more aggressive scheming by the defense?) due to Worley's injury. You can see the team perk back up immediately upon Worley's return. I can't fault Peterman, in fact I am relatively hopeful that should Worley go down that Peterman can be *at least* adequate.

Knock on wood. Worley is clearly the emotional heart of this offense and I love what I am seeing from him.

I have only seen Jennings the one time he was on tv first game of the year. Was not impressed at all. Home he has something he didn't show in that game. Arm strength was suspect. Decision making looked scattered. More of a scrambler first. Passer second.

I really do not think CBJ and co really care about a Dobbs redshirt..with dormady coming in, they prolly just looking for one serviceable year out of him..JMO

Peterman has earned his #2 position, I really feel like UGA saw a chance to close the game when he came in and pinned their ears back to pressure him due to our Oline. Next year he will look completely different when the line can actually protect him..

This year EVERYTHING depends on a healthy worley...next year with improved line play, we can take any QB and be good due to strength of the rest of team being so strong.

Better days are ahead, CBJ knows what he is doing, unlike the DD experiment. (My hate for Hamilton will burn eternal)

This year we need Worley to stay healthy.

Next year is a new year, a lot of people were down on Worley before this season even began. Dobbs or Peterman will likely win the job and if a freshman wins it...so be it.

We will be better next year regardless or in spite of our QB.

Patience on Peterman folks.

Agreed.

He's a Sophomore and his only meaningful snaps have been in the middle of games on the road at Gainesville and at Athens when things were already going bad. Not really a fair evaluation.

Both Jennings and Dormady are EEs.....thank God. Need them up to speed as quickly as possible and hope that Dobbs takes huge strides forward in the meantime. Daniel Lewis has written more than once, and I heard him say it again this morning on Basilio, that Dobbs has really improved his throwing accuracy and velocity this fall. Peterman simply is not the answer.

This right here.

The best thing for Peterman would be a position change.

Hopefully, they can get Dormady and Jennings on campus next season and let them fight it out with Dobbs.

So two quarters and 7 minutes is enough to determine his remaining 2.5 years at UT? Good to know everyone's minutes of playing time to career ratio now.

The guy has been on campus for 2 + seasons and not been able to win the starting job or get appreciably playing time until desperation hits so Jones and company have had a role in determining his playing time as well.

I'm guessing they know more than either of us about his ability.

Peterman has not impressed, but he wasn't helped by the OC who should have had him throwing quick passes instead of standing deep in the pocket while georgia blitzed. Stupid.

Jennings is NOT an early enrollee.

We're past patience at this stage.

After 2 1/2 quarters? Why do we have to start the same thread 10 times a year? Isn't once sufficient?

If you had judged Worley after 2 1/2 quarters you'd have said the same thing. Now he's a great leader and QB. Consider that, really, he should be a redshirt junior with one more season left (Thanks, Dooley). We don't want to hear it as fans- we want every recruit to come in and immediately be world beaters- but the development of 17-22 year old young men takes time. Some more than others.

Worley took awhile... but aren't you damn thankful we have him now? I'm willing to give these young men who sweat and bleed for the Vols every opportunity to be the best they can be.
