So we have Peterman and Worley going through spring. Obviously Dobbs and Ferguson will be here this summer.

What QB do you see getting the nod after spring? Worley or Peterman? Obviously, it will be hard for a true freshman to come in this summer and turn any heads over 2 guys that have been here.

I wouldnt at all mind seeing Dobbs or Ferguson blowing up as that means theyre doing something right. They do all get to start fresh with the new offense so that levels the playing field some.

What does everyon think? Ive been craving some QB conversation.

I think worleys experience keeps him ahead atleast til the first game of the season.

Idk Dobbs is pretty hyped up and he is extremely smart, he would end up being really good. He also just happens to fit the system perfectly. I hope he blows up.

Worley has the advantage of game experience, but with a new staff and scheme, I think the playing field has been leveled for Peterman and he ends up beating Worley out come August.

I hope he redshirts, learns the college speed a little in practice, and puts on weight.

Thinking same thing regarding Dobbs. Just saw on twitter where Worley is one if 3 Vols in press conference tomorrow (along with AJ and Ja'Wan) so that tells you what the coaches think at this point between Worley and Peterman.

If I am not mistaken, Jones doesn't really treat the QB position that different from any other position. I believe he has used co-starters and a 2 QB rotation. I believe he has also replaced established starters who weren't underperforming with guys who proved they were better.

I personally like that approach.

When Kiffin arrived, he had one real option at QB in Crompton.

When Dooley arrived, he didn't have any returning QB's.

Jones inherits two good looking players and signed two more. That in itself makes me more hopeful that he can get good QB play regardless of who wins the job.

I've liked Worley since we signed him but if he's gonna run this kinda offense, he better have found some mobility cause I haven't seen it yet. Read option QBs gotta have a strong arm and be able to run. Peterman has both, Justin has one. We'll see come spring though, I like them both. I do think Justin deserves every chance to win the job cause of his experience and seniority.

Heres my opinion. It's between dobbs and peterman. Sure Worley has a touch more experience than peterman but he has it with a completely different set of starting receivers in a completely different offense. I'd venture to say that most people would agree that when a new coach comes in with the plan to change the offense at any school that the most crucial recruit in his first cycle is the qb he takes. It's got to be a guy who fits his system and will make the transition easier and that seems to be what dobbs is, peterman also fits seeing as jones pursued him really hard while at cincy. I feel like jones knows that the next two years, although important, are not make or break for him however year three is the big test.
Because of that I think he would be more
than willing to let either a redshirt freshman or even a true freshie take his lumps early on so he can have four years of continuity on the offense. Why go prostyle for two years under Worley and then risk a transition nightmare like Dooley faced in his year three debacle because of his defensive shift. I think worleys limited experience is vastly overrated when you factor in the athletic ability and intelligence of dobbs and peterman. All of that may be way off base but that's how I feel. Sorry for the rant.

Dobbs is smart until he throws that first game losing interception against one of our rivals. then he's just another peyton manning.

I think we lose one QB before the season starts. One will ask for a transfer(who it will be, who knows) but I think one will transfer.

+1. If we were talking about Chaney still being here...same offense, then you have to assume Worley gets the upper hand, based on seniority/experience. But with a totally new system, and one that favors the more athletic QB...I do see Peterman edging Worley out. That has me worried, though. Cause we may very well go into fall camp with Worley gone, and only 2 true freshmen backing Peterman up.

Jackass troll. Do you ever give it a rest? I know you get on here with provocative statements just trying to mix it up but it's getting a little old pal. Geez. We all know who you are, we get it. Use is wasted on the wrong people.....

I wouldn't be surprised to see Dobbs make a push for the starting job by the end of fall camp. When you only hear good things about the kid and not too mention how giddy all of the coaches get talking about him makes you wonder. If there is one thing we have going for us this year is the QB spot is going to be fun to watch. GBO!

Worley. He ran a similar system in high school and won national player of the year. He is much better at this style of offense than Chaney's. quick decisions and accurate. He has trouble when he has to read coverages and hang in the pocket for longer routes to develop.
