While I accept the accusation of being a knuckle, among other things - No, I didn't use the article that way. If you went back and re-read my original post about Moore might sneak up on Nico, you'd know that, instead of making a snide and false claim.

Take two of these and call me in the morning.

My take on QB2 is the following:
Moore will back up Nico for relief and short term injuries. Merk will play max 4 games to keep his red shirt.
If for some reason, Nico is out long term, Merk will be brought along quicker.
Moore is a good to very good quarterback in Heup's system. He will not get you beat however he is does not have that intangibles to win games on his own.
Nico & hopefullly Merk have the ability to be great.

You don't need a cracked crystal or MSN to tell how the official depth chart will look when it's released, it will look just like this. Which is what it was for the bowl, Spring practice, the O&W game and ALL preseason practice.

I think Moore would be a good Qb2 if the need arises and really hope to see him early in the year when they have a big lead. I think Nico just gives another dimension to the O that Heup prefers with his running ability and elusiveness in the pocket.

If Nico is on against Nooga it wouldn't bother me to see him only play the 1st half with Moore and Merklinger in the 2nd half.

My useless take on the QB situation is they didn't give a large NIL deal to Nico to have him sitting on the bench. Unless he gets hurt or has a horrendous game and is replaced, he will be the man. If God forbid he gets hurt, Gaston Moore is in the 5th year of the Heup system and knows it inside and out. He won't have to win games all by himself just as Nico won't. He will have a good to great team around him with plenty of options and I'm sure that the OC and Heup know what Gaston's strengths and weaknesses are and will adjust. Both Gaston and Merk will hopefully get some playing time because we are so far ahead in some games, which we should be. Whatever happens, our young but talented QB, strong RB, OL, TE, and very good DL and hopefully improved secondary should provide Large Orange fans with lots of excitement this fall. Can't wait. GBO.

Gaston is a solid VFL. He could have transferred out and could be starting at a lot of schools, but he decided to stay with CJH. If Nico happens to go down, I believe Gaston could lead this team to at least 8 wins, maybe nine.

Some of you are stressing way too much about my original Moore might sneak up on Nico comment than is remotely necessary. Sit down, or lie down, breathe, have a bite or sniff of rum flavored chocolate muffin. AHHH! Better now?

Why are you acting like this article somehow validates your take on this? It’s talking about the backup job lol. The “naysayers” never disagreed with you on QB2 dude they were disagreeing with you talking about Gaston taking the starting job. So much talk about our starting QB. Someone needs a chill pill. It's going to be our Defense that determines whether or not we go to a playoff this season. if our defense improves as much this season as they have in the last 2 we'll finish 2nd in the league and play for top honors later on. keep an eye on the D and how they start against State and at Norman.

I get it. Somehow you believe you deserve a throne in my mind so that my opinions conform only to what you prefer. That's the only explanation for you being hyper triggered about my comments. You know what, the funny thing is, in the thread where I started this off, I attributed the idea as belonging to my dog and cracked crystal ball. But you're acting egoistical about it, as to be fanatical. Perhaps you should ask yourself, the number one question of the universe--WHY?
