I thought it'd be interesting to re-visit this. Funny, the actors hadn't even been confirmed yet at the time. I'd say it was a top 5 QT film.

I can't think of anyone who can build tension with dialogue as well as Tarantino.

This, that is why Tarantino is greater than 95% of the producers out there. He has a way with dialogue that none of his peers have. While everybody else tries to get over on special effects or star power, Tarantino actually spends time on the poetry.

I tend to agree. His dialogue writing is just much better than most.

Pulp Fiction is my favorite example.

I got blown up once on Team Fortress 2 by someone named "The Bear Jew". I laughed pretty hard. Need to dig the Inglorious Basterds DVD back out.

I tend to agree that Tarantino is one of the best in the business when it comes to developing a character on the page. Basterds was IMO one of his best movies. Pulp Fiction was great and so was Reservoir Dogs to a lesser extent, but I just really liked the story in Basterds. And it turned out to be one of the better WWII movies I've ever seen.
