In our nations history during tough economic times many of our presidents have given us great speeches intended to help put the people at ease or inspire them to come together for the good of the nation. Many have touted Obama for being a good communicator and I have been waiting for him to address the nation in a similar way, as of yet we haven't gotten this speech. So where is it? I don't find much comfort in this unprecedented spending bill when the CIC doesn't have the faith in it to address the people and sell it as a means to a more prosperous future.

I am going out on a limb here, but I'd say he has become aware of what his "alligator mouth" has gotten his "chick-a-dee butt" into in.

The best thing to do when digging yourself into a hole is putting the shovel down.

that means he would actually have to discuss the issue and not just spout out rhetoric filled BS like he normally does. i have a feeling there would be a lot of ummms in there. Wheres Joe the Plumber when you need him...

he just did a presser and they covered it on CNBC... nothing but doom and gloom and how the last 8 years deficit is hurting us and then threw a gab in at the cable news commentators. Its getting old

For some reason, I thought this was going to refer to the "Great Speeches in Presidental History" seen on Letterman.

No I did not. It would seem to me that at this time of "worst economic crisis since the Great Depression" that our commander in chief would have addressed the public before the bill was passed, especially given all the opposition to it by the majority of Americans. I have my own thoughts on why this didn't happen but that is neither here nor there. Do you expect a great speech about this spending bill or do expect him to play the effects it will have down as he has been?

I watched his address at the Governor's meeting today. On one hand he talks about working together but he attacks those that don't agree with HIS plans. He demonizes criticism of the plan as being quibbles about a few things or 2-3% of the spending then says he's open to honest criticism!

What he's doing is nothing new for a partisan politian but unfortunately what he's doing is nothing new for a partisan politician.

If he continues this tact then he will do exactly what i expected him to do. Play down the positive effects of this bill and blame the prior administration for the economy not responding with economic growth.

Yes, by some time tonight the media should start calling it the greatest State of the Union address ever made. Why should they even wait until he actually makes the speech?

I would be happy if Obama acknowledged the American citizen is what makes this country
work.

That is luncay. Political sucide if they don't get better. He can talk things down all day long and then if things even show a glimpse of turning around, he says see I turned things around.

Obama is an amateur compared to Ronald Wilson Reagan.

Listen to "A Time for Choosing" or his 1980 Inaugural address and you'll see what I mean.

Obama is great at reading a prepared speech on a teleprompter, without the comfort technology, he's no more gifted an orator than George W. Bush or Nancy Pelosi.

You didn't have to go on. You could have stopped at "amateur."

I know, but then one of the Obama-sheep would have chimed in and called me unpatriotic for daring criticize His Obamaness. Then again, they'd do that anyway, so why not give props to a President who was an actual leader.

Forget presidential speeches. Who was it that called Obama's post-Wright fiasco speech the most important oration in American history?

Yes, Obama is under a lot of pressure to match all the great speeches Bush gave as a President

His BS and empty promises of false hope and hand outs have lead him to this juncture. He'd better be as good of a salesman as he was when he was filling all these idiot's heads full of nonsense so he could get his job.

And by the way, Bush is gone. You sound immature when you continue to pick on a man who is no longer in charge of anything. Face it, yall elected a busch league president.

Now lets see his butt cash the checks his lying mouth said it could. By the way, its been 35 days, have you seen your check yet?
