he also wants to be apart of the track and field program along with still playing football

will this be allowed or even possible to do track and field along with football?

Many before him have done it, mostly in the 80's. Namely Willie Gault.

Trindon Holliday at LSU and last year at Florida I think they said on CBS last year that Demps Rainey James and Harvin were all on the 4 by 1 relay team at UF

Lots of people do it, Chad Jones on LSU played football and won a championship playing baseball.

As highly regaurded as Hunter is on the football field, he's an even more impressive athlete on the track...well, when steps to the pit, anyway. Right now, talk is that as he naturally progresses from a HS athlete to the next level, he may end up repping the US @ the London games in 2012.

Leonard Scott comes to mind as well.

+1- This was the one person who came to mind immediately for me and UT Track.

Heard the same thing about his track ability. That has to make you happy to have him with his athletic ability, especially if you have watched his highlight tapes. He is NOT just a track guy, he has football ability and athleticism.

I am old and feeble but i believe the beginnings of UT becoming "wide Receiver U " started back when UT had some of the best sprinters in the country. Many of these guys also played football. Again i might be wrong, but the sprinter part of UT track and Field was at one time very dominant.

They were, and even won the NC in 2002. That team had a certain sprinter name Justin Gatlin.

As far as Hunter goes, he is a helluva track athlete, especially in High Jump. He cleared 7'1'' in an AAU meet and with high jump it doesn't matter if your high school, college, or olympics - 7'1'' is legit. He will compete for a SEC title and possibly NC if he continues to progress. I hope his athleticism on the field will take him (and us) just as far.

Jabari Greer was a great track star, and I don't think that hurt him now did it?

Can`t remember the year but we were playing @ LSU Willie Gault ran a kickoff back for a touchdown. After the game their coach(can`t think of his name)said he knew nobody on his team was going to catch him because as he came by me on the sideline all you could hear was a wooshing sound:eek:lol:

It seems there was a very popular dual sport athlete at another school we won't name here. I think his name was "Bo" somethingorother.
