I’m afraid the answer is we don’t run to the edges with this offense since the goal is to spread the defense out. So if we don’t get the mismatch downfield we’re screwed. QB has to take off I guess?
And I think that’s the key that we, as fans , do not want to hear. It’s not a coincidence that CJH has had two conservative offensive games in SEC play. He knows what we dont want to accept….. our offense is not that great. It has limits again.Horrible Conservative play calling. Coaches lost this game. Pitiful.
This is definitely not a game we should have lost. But we literally had our arse handed to us. Honestly, I feel lucky that Arkansas didn't hang points in the mid-thirties on us. Without any difficulty, they should have hung 21 in the first half alone. We were dominated on the stat sheet folks.Tonight is incredibly disappointing. This is not a game we should have lost. I also agree we have a problem with WR’s inability to get open. That doesn’t help.
My exact thoughts. I turned it off after about the 5th time of Samson running up the middle for no gain. If something's not working, why not try something different ? If you go back and look at our losses over the last 3 years the pattern is the same= run up the middle regardless of it getting no where. Our offense is fun, but it's too predictable and we don't adapt to game conditionsI can’t think of a single time this season that there’s been a run play outside the tackles with the exception of QB keeping on a zone read.
With the wide splits there’s a lot of potential running room out there for Sampson and Bishop to get into that space every once in a while, so why is every play up the middle or between the tackles?
Watching the Vandy game, Clark Lee just made a statement in the college coaching world. He doesn't have the talent to beat an SEC on talent alone. He has to outcoach them. He was throwing old school wishbone at AL. Their DC didn't know what to do with it. I keep hearing Heupel is an offensive genius. Well when he had Hooker and Hyatt that wasn't so hard. Now what? We don't have a Hyatt on the team, but we do clearly have one of the best RB's in the SEC and he's not even being fully utilized.Offense has become terribly predictable against the talent in the conference, it's fun to spool up all kinds of yards in games that do not matter, but when the bright lights are on and the conference schedule is rolling, we futz and fiddle around like a bottom feeder in the conference, Heupel's lack of confidence in Nico last year is comparable to the lack of confidence this year
