How do you feel about political entertainers? Does it change your opinion of their music/movies or do you look past their political views for the value of entertainment?

Example....Is Eddie vedder a turn off to conservatives or is Pearl Jam's music too good to worry about it?

All of the hip hop artists and jazz/soul musicians that I listen to are liberals. 95% of the actors that you see in film are liberals. I just look past it. Most artists tend to be right brained types and therefore are more easily persuaded by the emotional appeal of liberalism.

If I pay money to see Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder launches into political diatribe, my first thought would be, "just shut up and sing." Most musicians, actors, etc. really aren't all that bright, which is why they're entertainers and not oncologists, theoretical physicists or nuclear engineers.

In all fairness, I will listen if a performer shares my viewpoints on things (Chuck Norris, Gary Oldman, Gary Sinise) but I don't go out of my way to only watch their movies or buy their CDs. I wouldn't walk into a movie starring Alec Baldwin thinking it's going to suck because Alec is such a piece of leftist trash.

Right brained people tend to think more "outside the box". Emotions have nothing to do with it.

Didn't Eddie Vedder shave his hair into a mohawk and then say he wouldn't get rid of it until we withdrew from Iraq? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard and I really like Pearl Jam. I really dislike it when celebrities act as if their opinions matter. I don't give a damn what Whoopi Goldberg or Dennis Miller have to say. That said, I still enjoy George Clooney movies even though he's an arrogant bastard.

I simply cannot make myself care as long as their entertainment doesn't turn political (as opposed to their commentary).

Radiohead did that and in the process created their worst album by far.

I have no idea what you're talking about...but I'll take your word for it. I listen to country for the most part....and as far as "political" songs go...I remember accepting Toby Keith's "put a boot in your ass" song a lot more than Darryl Worrely's (sp?) "have you forgotten". I don't know...it's not like they portrayed different politics...I just couldn't stand one and liked the other...

"Hail to the Thief" was their album condemning Bush. It's also by far their worst effort.

I don't pay attention to what most public celebrities say.

Although I did swear off paying for movies with George Clooney after I read this article a while back.

In receiving a special filmmaking achievement award from the National Board of Reviews, actor George Clooney joked that "Charlton Heston announced again today that he is suffering from Alzheimer's."

Clooney still had a chance to apologize for the bad humor day. When questioned about the remark by New York Newsday, Clooney sputtered: "I don't care. Charlton Heston is the head of the National Rifle Association. He deserves whatever anyone says about him."

What's up with George Clooney?

Piece of trash.

Right brained people tend to think more "outside the box". Emotions have nothing to do with it.

Right brained people are more creative and more emotional. Left brained are more logic driven and less emotion driven.

I can not watch my favorite movie of all time any more because of Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins. They are both huge waists of skin.

I disagree- Hail to the Thief was a decent album- better than their latest.

How do you explain GreenDay's Anti-Bush album "American Idiot" being number one??

Not even close. Hail to the Thief had two songs that won't induce vomiting. Fortunately, when I saw them live they had the good sense to only play one song from that album.

Well actually, I knew that before GOOGLE even existed. Learned it in a place called middle school. I just had to show you proof that what I said is indeed correct. If you want more proof, you can search GOOGLE on your own or stop by your local public library... or graduate from the 9th grade. Your choice, my friend.

What you said about right-brained people being "persuaded" by the "emotional appeal" of Liberalism was a complete "If, then" fallacy.

You argued that most artists are right brained. You then took only one example of a right-brain characteristic ("feels") and connected it to all Liberals.

So, essentially, you are alluding, "If you are right-brained, then you must be a Liberal. If you are a Liberal, then you must be right-brained."

This argument is inaccurate.
