Question for Liberals and Conservatives

If it's minor, I don't have a big deal with it. It gets old though - I pay to see them perform, not preach.

Their celebrity gives them a platform that the average citizen will never have. I believe that opportunity comes with responsibility.

So, essentially, you are alluding, "If you are right-brained, then you must be a Liberal. If you are a Liberal, then you must be right-brained."

This argument is inaccurate.

All of the hip hop artists and jazz/soul musicians that I listen to are liberals. 95% of the actors that you see in film are liberals. I just look past it. Most artists tend to be right brained types and therefore are more easily persuaded by the emotional appeal of liberalism.

I very clearly state that they have a greater tendency to be persuaded, not that all right brained individuals bite on the bait. If I would have wanted to say that, I would have said, "All right brained individuals are liberals.". But I didn't say that, did I? I also didn't mention that there may actually be some left brained people that may be liberal. I chose my words for a reason, hoping that someone with a relatively firm grasp of the English language would understand that I wasn't painting all artists/right brained people into the liberal camp. But what I was saying (and what cannot be denied) is that most (not all) artists are liberal.

Understand?

i think most conservatives that enjoy groups like pearl jam are able to seperate politics and entertainment. i don't think it's the same for most liberals. most Liberals are so thinned skin, they take everything to personal or get offended so easily. i could see them not watching a movie or listenning to an entertainer that is considered to be a consertative.

I disagree- Hail to the Thief was a decent album- better than their latest.

How do you explain GreenDay's Anti-Bush album "American Idiot" being number one??

Look at the demographic that buys albums and that should tell you all you need to know.

:eek:lol:

Let's see, you're probably a right brained person with thin skin if you are liberal. So......being a liberal has nothing to do with making a choice, rather you're born with these conditions?

correct, it's recently been classified as a birth defect

:eek:lol:

Doctor walks in, closes the door behind him. "I'm afraid I have some bad news; your son was born a liberal." "Sometimes they grow out of this in their late 20's"

To answer the question: NO, I don't let my political views decide the movies I watch or the music I listen to regularly.

I agree with you however if their is an actor or musician who makes it a regular habit of spouting off their political beliefs when there is no reason for it I tend to get turned off and am less likely to go to the theater and see the movie. Of those movies I usually wait till Net Flix has it then que it. In the end I see the movie anyway so I guess it really doesn't matter that much.

Damn that actor Fred Thompson, who does he think he is? :)

I agree, I don't see the need for Sean Penn to go strolling down the streets of Iraq.

i'm not talking about right side or left side of the brain. i'm just referring to the original question.

As long as celebrities remember that they do have a day job, I don't pay much attention to what they say. When they open their mouths, it doesn't take long to figure out that many of them don't know any more about their "cause" than any of us would...and sometimes they don't even know that much. If they want the whole world to see how stupid they really are, that's their business.

I don't pay attention to what most public celebrities say.

Although I did swear off paying for movies with George Clooney after I read this article a while back.

What's up with George Clooney?

Piece of trash.

I didn't think much of George Clooney as an actor...or as a person...before he said this so my opinion of him didn't change any. He's just another famous person who thinks the whole universe revolves around him. He seriously needs to get over himself.

I am fully aware that in general most entertainers are Big Fat Libs. But so long as they keep their political opinions and religious beliefs to themselves it's fine, we can just disagree, however, to the three Sarandon, Robbins and Pean... I will never ever watch a movie with either of these three any part of it's cast and or behind the scenes... Sally Field pissed me off, of course Ben Affleck and now all these Obama idiots have come out. I will never ever buy a Green Day album either. The only band that tears me up and has me no matter what is U2. I know Bono is the exact definition of a socialist but I have loved U2 since I was in 6th grade.

While I agree, I'd say the public, in general, are so easily swayed by these big name actors. Dixie Chicks, I will never ever buy another album they make either. I just wish people would do their own investigating. Believe it or not, I have a girlfriend that says she always vote Democrat b/c her daddy has always done it and she'll do the same. I've asked her a few questions and she is a Republican, what a waste.

Sean, George, and Susan are permanently on my do not watch list. And it sucks because Fast Times at Ridgemont High was my favorite movie.

I try not to put anyone on my do not use list but admit I turn the radio channel if U2 comes on.

Don't any of you guys have a close friend who might have completely different political beliefs than you? I bet not because I am seeing some pretty narrow minded thinkers in this thread.

Who gives a rat's azz what Alec Baldwin's political beliefs are? He is a good actor

YOu are missing out on some good movies/entertainment

I have some radically different friends, but I still don't believe in helping fund the pulpit from which idiots like Baldwin and Sarandon spew their stupidity.
