Question for the Dems/Libs out there...

To GA and TRUT's points, this is totally backdoor politics.

Of course it's backdoor politics . . . I don't think anybody is saying that the Democrats are doing anything the Republicans haven't done. I'm just pointing out that the new Democratic Congress is not quite the breath of fresh air that they would like to have you believe that they are.

That's the answer to the $64 dollar question. :good!:

I agree GaVol they aren't. But as I see it we have to make choices with the candidates put in front of us. When all the choice you have is the lesser of 2 evils what you end up with is a congress, house of representatives, and a president who seem to care only about their careers and not lookin bad on tv. All politicians nowadays seem to be all about I'm gonna take care of me, and get mine...I'm not trying to argue with you or be ugly but whats an average everyday joe to do when the government is staffed and run by these types of politicians? Easy to say lets vote em all out but who replaces them? We just need people of good character with morality and common sense, driven to fix the nations problems just because it's the right thing to do. Where are these people?

we always harken back to yesteryear when men were men and politicians were good, moral men. Give me a break. Politicians are and have always been weaselly slimeballs, by and large. Some break the mold, but very few. We just didn't have as much media scrutiny back when FDR was just a great American. Politics ain't changing. The winners are the guys that make the most people believe their lies - better said, those who flip flop the most seamlessly.

Yeah. People thinking the Founding Fathers were all good, moral men are fooling themselves as well. Actually quite a bit of what goes on today is child's play to what went on in the early days with politics.

If our intent is to choose the individual that will make the smartest choices or do the least harm and all we have is selfish liars as choices why even bother to vote?

Right and responsibility are two different things.

I agree but if we only exercise the right when we have good choices are we really doing our duty as citizens?

The world is full of circumstances where all choices look bad but we can't opt out.

If we won't make the tough decisions how can we expect our reps too?

(how's that for some heavy stuff :))

Because voter apathy is how we got to this point in the first place. The choices are never as bad as people make them out to be.
