I asked this under another topic, but I dont know if anyone will see it. Its a subject that may be a good subject to discuss.

What coach would want the pressure of coaching a program that fires the previous coach for having 9 wins and taking his young team to the SECCG?

Just where is here Sarge? Why do you say such good things about the south, yet, go North and open up a golf instruction school?

Who is carpetbagging?

i' ONLY HAVE TO BE HERE 3 DAYS A WEEK. THANK GOD ABOVE,

So you are a carpet bagger.

Again, since you love the south so much, why go to PA? Why not Florida? Why not Hilton Head? Why not Myrtle beach?

Why not stay in your beloved south?

How do you all suppose Urban Meyer would operate in the SEC?

Him at UF scares me.....very good coach

And to think I thought nobody here would agree with me...

If you've seen any of the stuff of his on ESPN, he seems like a brilliant coach. He would be a perfect fit for Florida's situation, too... I don't think it would be out of the question that he could have a shot at being the second coming of Spurrier.

Herbstreit says he will leave for only Notre Dame and Ohio St. We will see. ( he cannot handle the SEC, just a different level of ball )

He might be good at Ohio State as well... And as a part Buckeye (I've got heritage all over the damn country) I would be glad to see him. But I think that Urban just may be able to handle the SEC.

How could he go to OSU? I know they had a bad-year for their standards and are now caught up in the Maurice Clarett scandal, but Tressel isn't going anywhere.

2 years removed from a National Championship, 3-1 record against Michigan, 2-1 in bowl games currently, 39-11 as their HC in the regular season, plus he's put together a few great recruiting classes and this year seems to be no different meaning theres a bright future in Columbus, I just don't see Tressel going anywhere unless something very strange occurs.

The Callahan situation should have opened up the eyes of any "fan" wanting to get rid of a winning coach. What type of coach would take that kind of job? How about one that took an NFL Super Bowl team that someone else built, to THE GUTTER. That's the kind of coach. Sadly, he's done the same to the storied program at Nebraska.

Not neceassarily, he worked with what he could and it wasnt much, plus Daily is the worst college QB I've watched this year.

Nebraska will be back, right now they are ranked #1 in recruiting, have a couple 5 stars coming in, new RB, new QB, once Callahan gets kids for his system, the huskers will be right back up again.

but where are they now? 5-6

I don't think these Vols fans clamoring for coaching changes after a 9-2 regular season and outright SEC Eastern Division crown would settle for a 5-6 rebuilding year. Remember, this year is supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Vols... breaking in a new quarterback... but 9-2 isn't good enough.

And not only has the Tennessee coaching staff put together an offense having to use 3 different quarterbacks and a patchwork offensive line... the total offensive output of 402.0 yards per game matches the output from the 2001 team and exceeds the output of the 1998 National Championship team.

They're 5-6 now, but Callahan is showing to be a good recruiter and if Nebraska holds onto him(which is debatable) then in a year or so, you'll seee a very good Nebraska team again.

What I'm trying to say is that fans who are disappointed with 9-3 records (Solich's record last year) don't want to wait around for a new coach to 'build' a winning program. With the defense that Nebraska had returning from last year as well as the quality of athletes they would have had on offense running the wishbone again this year, they would have won the Big XII North easily this year, and probably been at least a top 10 team.
