Question on Nike switch.

No, Nike doesn't make a "team shoe" that all athletes at a school get and is sold to the public. That's an Adidas thing.

Each sport will order whatever model of shoes they choose. Nike makes some in fairly common team colors, although ours isn't a common color, so who knows what will be available to the public. I've never seen tea color Nike shoes sold at the team shops at Georgia or Alabama, both Nike schools.

As far as team gear, Nike also makes shirts and other gear that will be exclusive to the coaches and players and not available to the public, same as Adidas. Schools want exclusives for their athletes, just a simple fact.

I'm excited about what the change in brands means for our recruiting, but if you're expecting some huge breakthrough in fan gear, you're going to be disappointed.

IDK I noticed alot of Adidas sideline gear for fans this past season - I have the same orange polo shirt CBJ wore

Does anyone remember the "pumps" that used the CO2 cartridge? There was an intake on the tongue of the shoe that you pressed the CO2 powered hand pump to. They used Shaq (yes I'm dating myself) as the spokesperson.

Yes, the stuff that coaches wear during games is always available. That's why they plan what coaches will wear for each game months in advance. Retailers then can order what they know will sell because coaches will wear it. Nike does that as well. If you look at the tags, it's all called "sideline" apparel for that reason.

The stuff people usually ask about are the jackets and tshirts coaches and players wear for practices and workouts. That stuff is exclusive to the team.

You will get to store all your Addias buy all new caps, shirts, jerseys etc. . This switch will cost fans some cash .

I think it is a very good move by the university.

most fans never see the practice or workout stuff - so I dont mind that - sideline gear is good for me -- thanks DP

I just hope Nike sells the cool sideline gear we see on TV. Adidas seems to hold back on what is available to the regular joes. Particularly the cool short sleeve pullovers we see Butch wearing sometimes.

It's true, Jones is always decked out in some sweet gear. I've yet to see the man not well-dressed to anything. I bet he's pissed at Dooley for ruining the orange pants. I specifically remember him saying something to the effect of "don't know yet, but maybe I will" when asked whether he would wear the orange pants after being hired.

They make a few team models, and for more than just Oregon

The Coolest College Team Trainers This Season | Sneaker Report

Those are mostly special edition shoes. The Texas and OU shoes were for the Red River Rivalry in football.

As it was explained to UT in negotiations for the contract, there is NOT a "team" shoe that is issued to every team on campus, like what Adidas has. That was the question, and that is the answer.

Nike will have models of shoes in custom colors for teams to wear on the field/court.

Question on Nike switch:

Am I the only one who sees "The Battle at Bristol" as a major predicating factor behind Nike suddenly offering us a (more) lucrative contract??

Don't like the swoosh.

Apparently switching to NIKE causes illegal behavior!

We'll wear what Nike TELLS us to wear, and like it. Even if it flies in the face of anything done in the history of UT football.

Yea Nike ruins the traditions of Universities!

Look at these HIDEOUS Penn St. Unis

My question is will we still incorporate a gray uniform?
Posted via VolNation Mobile
Not connected anyway but I would say YES as well as it was received by the fans and players. We will have some sorta of Gray Nike Uniform.

Actually, Bama's uniforms are quite hideous. **** Bama.

And try this one on for size. Not saying it's a Nike design, I realize it's not a Nike design, but I'm certainly expecting a monstrosity like this when they get a wild hair up their *** to do the "Pro Combat" trash again.

Let's not forget Jawjuh's super-classy Pro Combats.

Or for that matter, Miami's.....

I don't like how a ******* shoe company can straight up tell a University "here's option A, B, C, and D. What's that?? They're all uglier than hammered ****?? Too damn bad, you're wearing them or you're in breach of contract."

The two Nike uniforms you actually posted for GA and Miami are slick. We get that you hate it, but the kids that wear them love them. That's all that matters.

You say slick, I say "look like hot garbage with a side of boiled ***". Oh well, as long as 16-17 year olds like it, right?? That's all that matters. God forbid these kids come because of the school instead of a mark on our gear.

Is the Notre Dame and Tennessee switch from Adidas shutting down your sweatshop or something? Why are you so upset?

No they really didn't, I over filled mine all the time and eventually burst the air bladder in them. I had totally forgotten about then until now.

Never was sure about UGA's Pro Combat unis, but the Miami 80s throwback look is sharp.

I hope Nike doesn't go back to the UT archives and pull out the 1963 Halloween unis, with the LSU-style sleeve stripes and black numbers on the helmets. That jersey works for the Tigers and the Colts, but I'm not so sure it worked for the Vols. Just really different looking, I guess.
