Until this year I never really followed recruiting. What will be will be...but since we have Kiffin (squared) and Orgeron I have been taking notice. Everything I read says how good Orgeron is. Can he make a difference with a little over a month left? I hope so.

Like you said, there's only a month left. I doubt any serious headway is made on any guys we aren't already in on. With that said, it's got to send a message to the guys that are considering us that we mean business and are in it to win it.

I don't think we'll see a number of players who wasn't on our radar all of a sudden jump on our bandwagon, but I think we could see possibly 1 or 2 at the most. I don't really care either way this recruiting class, but next year I think we will see more 4 and 5 star players looking at us. This 1st year is going to really give the 2010 recruits a look into what our coaching staff as to offer, IMO.

Many media outlets are saying Houston Nutt should call Ed and thank him for the recruits that gave him this bowl game ('08). I haven't followed his career but they say he's a "closer" in the players living room. Couple that with the "MONTE" factor, I hope we get another Haynesworth and Henderson combo!

He was the best recruiter in the nation in 2004 at a good program (USC) and was consistently a good recruiter at USC and Miami.

I don't think it'll be as easy to recruit to UT as it was at those two places, but it'll be MUCH better than at Ole Miss.

Regardless, I think he'll make a big difference in the home stretch.

O has been east coast, west coast, and all over in between. He'll deliver some good recruits and he can coach a D line.

Right, but I disagree with the level of toughness of recruiting for tennessee in comparision to miami. We all know any great player wants to win a championship which southern cal has frequently proven. Tennessee will be fairly easy to recruit for because of the fresh new coaching staff (obviously), the incredible stadium, even the new locker rooms. The Knoxville atmosphere is one you can't really compare to.

The man has ties on both coast's and is very well known in the south. Sounds like a winning combo to me.

O is the real deal! He will be the best hire UT made! He wants to learn under Monte, and will be a fantastic DC when Monte retires.

One big thing!!!!!! Keep him OFF the strip! He likes to party!

He quit drinking a few years ago...

Now he recruits all of the time, so he doesn't have time to drink or do anything.

if you know the guy's history, that's a pretty classless comment

I agree with Rex here... I think Kiffin pulls the wool over his mentor's eyes and Randall Carroll is a vol next year with Marlon Brown and Je'Ron Stokes!

Can you say "Wide Receiver U" is back!!!???!!!!

Definately! Carroll, Stokes, Patterson, Brown. Just get 2 of them to go with James green would be nice!

I am under the assumption he is mainly here for recruiting/developing purposes (I've been living under a rock--sure), so does it matter how good he actually is, or how good everyone thinks he is?

He had a pretty crappy record at Ole Miss. Judging by Ole Miss' win today, he developed a lot of talent, but had a crappy record. And the saints did so so this year. But EVERYONE is THRILLED about getting this guy, probably because he is so good at making everyone think he's awesome.

So my point is, part of recruiting (O's job at UT) is making a lot of 17 and 18 year old guys think you're awesome, and everyone and everything he is associated with, is awesome. Seems to be working for us adults. Keep the hype meter going, and we will have done our job.

On a side-note, who wouldn't want to go out to BLue Cats/BAR/Cotton Eyed Joe with this guy?!!? A few coronas and a couple yaws later, you'd be back at the crowne plaza with god knows how many women!
