Disagree. Ohio State wouldn't let a guy go 5 years without a Big 10 title.
I wouldn't be so sure about that. OSU hasn't even won the conference out right in 20+ years. In 2004 they went 7-4 and were talking about it like it was the greatest season ever, for one reason.
8 years is a stretch, but 5 years would certainly not get Tressel fired if he beats Michigan a majority of the time.
Can anyone name a coach at any major D-I program that, starting with 2007, could go eight years without a conference championship and retain his job?
