Who was Clausen talking to when he said, "people who don't want to give 100% need to go home"? It certainly didn't look like he was giving 100%. I hope not anyway. I don't understand a lot of things our coaches are doing. I am not a coach and maybe that's why, but why would you insult Ainge by putting him in with 8 seconds to throw it long. Clausen made his bed and he should have slept in it. I was so mad that PF did that to Ainge. Clausen has three touchdowns all year and the only quarterback worse in pass effenciency is the guy from Kentucky. Clausen said you can't be worried about stats. I'm sorry but TD's help a lot in winning. Defense can't put you on the 1 yard line every game. Congrats to the defense Saturday. I love the vols but I'm just frustrated.

This from a guy who had to be talked out of quitting! Wait a sec, so did E.A.

You can't be worried about stats, especially if you are not that good, but want to keep your job.

Mr. Clausen is an average QB, take away the ridiculous coaching gaffe at LSU vs UT and he really hasn't much in the way of production. His ability to insert his foot in his mouth is his greater talent.

At first glance, he looks like a fierce competitor, which I believe he is, but as time wears on, he comes off as a spoiled, petulant, unintelligent child who, knowing he is in his senior year, going nowhere in the NFL, and having the leverage of li'l brother Jim, combined with the Ainge Follies, has reasoned he can get away with behavior that ordinarily would be unacceptable.

I will give him an A for reading and manipulating his situation. Daddy Clausen counsels well.

I was upset about how much playing time ainge got to but i think fulmer made the right call putting him in with 8 seconds left. it was either that or let clausen throw it up for around 35-36 yards. ainge has the deep ball skill.

I'm just saying I think it was unfair to use him like that. Let Rick throw one of his punts in the air. It was almost like saying we're going to play it safe during the game and leave you out, but after we have already lost we'll put you in throw it long.

my worst fear is sometime the defense gets tired fo carrying the team and gives in.

People want to pick on Ainge for his bonehead play at LSU. But Rick's past the line pass Saturday may have been just as foolish. It didn't allow a touchdown, but it may have prevented a TD. Clausen could have pulled down the ball and ran for several yards setting us up in good field position, yet he threw it out of the endzone past the line of scrimmage causing a penalty and a loss of down. We don't know what would have happened but we know what did happen.

Another thing that gripes my butt is when Ainge got in on the third series. All the WR's were Austin Rogers,Lucas Taylor and Josh Brisco. All true freshman. That just doesn't make any sense. It's almost as if the coaches are setting Ainge up for failure.

I don't think they were setting Ainge up for failure at that point more than trying to prevent it from happening. The guy had not stepped on the field since the worst play in UT history at LSU. I want to give the coaches the benefit of the doubt that at time of the game, they truly thought he would be back for another series and was giving him a few snaps to get a feel for the game speed.

Now the last heave of the game was an insult. Any remote chance of winning had vanished with the kickoff return.

3 losses in our division should be the clean break for the season and the time for Ainge to take back over the QB job. At this point we are fighthing over the Independence or Music City Bowl. Does anyone really have a preference? I am afraid if they don't make the switch now, we will right back to the 2 QB problem again next year.

After watching the game again, I wondered how Tennessee would do if they had our QB. Or how we would do if we had a few of your receivers. I know it is a moot point, but something to ponder. Alabama is winning because it has team leadership. This is something Tennessee seems to be lacking. I am not running down the Vols. But looking at the talent and the record makes me wonder.

Everything rises or falls on leadership.

Putting him in with true freshman WR's isn't exactly setting him up for success either. To call the play at LSU the worst in UT history is a stretch. It cost Ainge his job but we won the ballgame. Clausen did the same thing at ND last year and it wound up being the deciding points. Clausens throw past the line of scrimmage may have cost UT the game against Bama, it certainly didn't help.

Putting him in with 8 seconds was an insult. Unless you're a bullrider, 8 seconds is not enough time for crap. They let Rick throw his punt-ball, (did you see the defender wait on his pass like it was a punt) when Swain had to defend it, the whole game. Let him do it at the end too.

Throwing the ball back over your shoulder from your own endzone, on the road at LSU at night, and then being slammed into the goal post while a D-Lineman catches the ball and scores a 1 yard TD surely ranks right up there with the best of them and hardly a stretch. Sure we won the game but I did not say it was the worst game in UT history.

Regardless, we all have had our worst plays. They probably even happened at night. Just not with a National TV audience.

Play the kid, get his head back to the confident side of football.
