SPRING VALLEY, Calif. – In this sprawling hilltop community with a breathtaking view of Sweetwater Lake, it was no secret who lived in the 3,000-square-foot house at the corner of Apple Street and Luther Avenue.

That home, residents would tell you, was where Reggie Bush's family lived.

That is, until this weekend, when the family abruptly packed up and vacated the residence – less than 24 hours after Yahoo! Sports approached Bush's mother about information linking the property to Michael Michaels, a man who is alleged to have tried to play a role in steering Bush toward an agent and who also has ties to a sports marketing company.

Days before Bush is expected to be the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft, unanswered questions about the residence and how his mother, stepfather and brother came to live in it within the last year have prompted the University of Southern California to refer the matter to the Pacific-10 Conference for an investigation.

Click the link above for the whole story.

I'd say there's something going on if they packed up and disappeared after a reporter started asking questions. Good news is, they are all probably very good runners if they're related to Reggie.

A 3000 square foot house in California is probably $500,000. at least.

Real estate in southern California = $$$$$$$$$$$$$ muchos grande dinero

Interesting.

Side note: Me, being the Pac-10 fan, still has rights to make fun of any and all SEC fans regarding recruiting violations until anything has been substantiated against the family of Reggie Bush.

Interesting bit of information:

If he is found to have been in violation of NCAA rules during the season in which he won the Heisman, the Heisman association actually has clauses concerning the fact that they can take the Heisman away from him.

I'd say if your a former USC player residing in Cali, you have a pretty good chance of walking away squeaky clean. This isn't murder you know, well, even if it was. :dunno:

Seriously though, Bush's family was living in an apartment in San Diego before moving into a $750,000 home. I think it's safe to say that something is going on with this.

This story is the biggest waste of time in recent memory. Who cares? Bush was already at USC. The Trojans received no advantage. There's no indication that Reggie had knowledge of any arrangement his mother and stepfather may have had with the owner of the house. Another example of "investigative journalism" run amok. Anyone who cares about this story needs to invest time in getting a life.

Aren't you on record for stating that no one would be charged in the whole Duke Lacrosse rape case???

How do you not wonder how your parents all of a sudden moved in to a 3/4 of a million dollar house, after living in an apartment all your life? Also, NCAA rules state that knowledge from the player is not a factor when it comes to potential agents providing benefits to friends and family.

As to the Duke Lacrosse issue, the answer is no. I said nobody would be charged for the email. That is accurate. I know the NCAA rules, probably better than most. I simply couldn't care less about this story. Only racists and Trojan haters care about this story. It's meaningless.

Racists, huh? So people who believe that college athletes should not be receiving benefits from agents, are apparently racist...

Thank you for clearing that up for me, before I realized I was a racist, I figured I just clung to the correct definition of 'amateur athlete.'

You may not be a racist. You may be a Trojan Hater. I said there were two categories of people who cared about this story. Also, please show any benefit Reggie Bush received or is alleged to have received. If some dolt is goofy enough to provide Reggie's folks with luxury housing in the hopes he signs with some half-a$$ed management group, I could not care less. If stories like this bother you, it's probable that you would be happier following Ivy League or D-II athletics.

The rule concerns not only benefits for the athlete but also for friends and family. If I have to show you the benefit his family received by living in a $700K house for a year, then I feel almost embarrassed for you.

It DOES become a recruiting advantage... "If I go to USC my parents will get a phat house in SoCal!!!
This is no different than all that crap that went down in Memphis.

I do believe you say COLLEGE ATHLETES here. I don't know of any sports Reggie Bush's mother or stepfather were playing last year.

I feel embarrassed that you are so jealous of guys like Reggie Bush that issues like this get you worked up. It's called the real world. Talent has its privileges.

Neither could I, but they have to play by the same rules as everyone else... lest Bear Bryant would be buying players from the grave. They messed up, it is against the rules, they got caught, end of story.

The NCAA will do absolutely nothing about it.
