Update.

Many in Memphis have been reporting that Memphis will retain Pastner after this season. Why? Strictly finances, due to his 10.6 million buyout.

Love it. Little Josh Pastner should be the poster child for the "everyone gets a trophy" crowd. He's a joke of a coach, and it couldn't happen to a better program.

Bruce Pearl's name has been thrown around as a replacement, apparently enough so that Paul Finebaum asked him about the rumors on air yesterday.

Memphis just doesn't have the money to do that. That would be a minimum of a $15 million investment, probably more.

Memphis appears to be trying to maneuver themselves into the Big 12, but I am not sure they are a top candidate.

Memphis is in position to be in the AAC championship on Sunday, as long as they beat lowly Tulane. If Memphis wins the AAC and sneaks into the tournament, the Memphis Administrarion will have a case not to fire Pastner to try and sell to boosters and fans.

He was already staying. Big money folks are focused on the Big 12.
