Quit comparing this Georgia game to the LSU game! We lost to LSU because of poor execution and coaching. We lost to Georgia because of a player giving every last bit of effort he possibly could. These are 2 totally different teams guys. Butch is the man

Such an obvious difference....lost on many.

It's seems as if telling a naive, uninformed Vols fan to stop comparing those two games is a lost cause.

Agree. I cannot and will not fault a kid for giving his all and coming up a little short. Damn good effort and a freak play that most of the time he scores on.

You have some people who no matter what will hate on Butch until he brings home a national championship. Outside of that these morons will do comparatives of Dooley. They are the "lost cause" fanbase.

Not to mention in 2010 LSU outgained us by 220 yards.

LSU controlled the game but made crucial mistakes. It would have been similar to the Miami/Florida game this year had Tennessee won. You win on the scoreboard but you leave there knowing you actually got outplayed. I felt like UT got outplayed in 2010.

I don't feel like UT got outplayed at all, to be honest. Murray is one of the best in the country and UGA has the talent at RB/WR to withstand the injuries. They took a hit, sure, but again Murray is a 5th year guy and he pretty much owns every SEC passing record for a reason. UGA will be fine as long as Murray is healthy.

UT played the best game I've seen a UT team play since probably the USC game in 2009.

This team put it all out there and unfortunately came up short. But, to be honest, I think they were shown that they can compete for 60 minutes against the best in the nation. I think that confidence was something this team lacked and Jones can't teach them that. They had to find it themselves.

Every one of those players deserves a standing O. They showed tremendous heart and fight. Especially Pig.

Why is everyone trying so hard to compare losses? Yes, there were some positives from Sat but at the end of the day, they were losses.

Because, when we're expecting to go 5-7/6-6 this year... it will be measured in improvement.

That means you will end up dissecting the losses (major opponents) instead of wins (at least 3 are scrub wins) so we can see if we're any better.

With Dooley, a 30-point blowout was par-the-course. With Kiffin, we were competitive for 60 minutes. Competitive losses are far more reason for garnering something positive than non-competitive Dooley loses where we're utterly outplayed in every facet of the game.

Is that really so hard to see? It's like if you're losing weight. "You dont' look like a supermodel now, so why are you always taking pictures of yourself?" To track improvement.

It's funny how so many here who want to claim this as a moral victory are the same ones who were defending the dismal performance against S. Alabama as "Well, we won. What does it matter how it looked?" and the same ones who, after we got thoroughly trampled by Oregon, were saying "Yeah, but no one expected us to be better than 2-1 right now, right?"

Pig is also the man for pouring all his heart into the game, my hat goes off to him and North.

Im sure everytime weve thrown a interception this year the QB was making an effort to do good too, I guess we should be ok with INT's as long as the QB is trying hard?

We should expect effort, not be blown away by the rare occurance of it. Bottom line is, he tried to make a play and was careless with the ball. Its not OK , even if he was trying hard.

Man that was harsh.......but sadly its also true. Not being a negavol, just admitting the truth. Other than that play, Pig had an outstanding game. Get him the ball more often IMO.

This should go over well.

This game reminds me of the Oregon game from last year. Don't ask why as I won't be able to provide a valid reason.

To Bama and Oregon, yes there were blowouts. Last year at UGA, UT was down by double digits twice in the game and was driving to tie at the end.

So in Dooley's 1st season, going on the road at LSU and nearly pulling off a W with against a top 10 team wasn't cause for optimism around here? I'm willing to bet it was even though it was a fluke way to lose a game.

I get the tracking improvement, but this has all been done before. People thought UT was improving in 2010 after the LSU game and when Bray took over.

I understand people wanting to feel good about anything related to UT football. At the end of the day, this team still doesn't know how to put the game away. They're getting closer. Hopefully it will happen in 2 Saturdays. :good!:

Pig deserves a standing O in every classroom he walks into this week. Love that guy.

The old fade would have questioned this by asking, "So Pig deserves a standing O for fumbling when the game was on the line?" :p

Pig played his heart out on Sat. Just one of those plays that was less than a foot from going down as one of the all-time great efforts in Neyland to the worst possible result.

I don't see any similarities in the two games at all. What I did notice was that the refs stood over the ball an exorbitant amount of time to let GA line up and get all their players situated before he would let us snap the ball. If the refs at LSU had of done the same thing in the LSU game we would have won because the clock would have expired.
