Concerning Phil Sims and Evan Hailes.

“They’re really waiting for me to say how it is up here,” Askew said. “It’s great right now but you never know what will happen later on. Probably like two months from here I guarantee they’ll probably be up here."

Interesting stuff. This quote makes me wonder how committed Sims is to BAMA and how much he is in touch with Askew. I really couldn't care less about Hailes but if Sims is that curious about how things are up here then it sounds like he could be swayed.

It would make a lot of sense with the amount of PT we have available, being closer to his home, and having a friend on campus. We are picking up OL to block for him, we have as good a backfield as anyone and are loading up on WR recruits while already having Nuke and Teague from last year.

It seems like the pressure is building and a QB is going to commit soon. I'm thinking a good showing by the O against WKU and then a more high profile showing against UCLA will bring us a top QB commitment.

My question is what exactly does that sentence mean?

Askew isn't gonna tell them how much he loves it now, because things can change. In two months when he's more comfortable with how he feels though, he thinks his opinion on it will get us a visit from Sims and Hailes

I think they really look up to JA. They're definitely listening and will give us a look if he likes it. Sounds like if he says commit they will come for an official. If Sims comes, I'm sure JA will show him a good time and give him the lowdown.

Would it be sweet to steal a QB from Bammer and LB from Paw Paterno? Saban would go off the deep end if Sims visits.

Even just a visit from Sims would piss Saban off because he would be worried about a signing day surprise like JJ did to LSU.

I'm really thinking more and more that we land Sims. Askew seems very confident that he can influence him.

Sims committing would set our recruiting on fire!

Thought Hailes was afraid of competition? No need to come here if true.

Y'all need to get off the afraid of competition thing. He's a teenager and thinking that he wants to play ball not sit on the bench. if i were him i'd pick the path of resistance too. We use the playing time excuse for qb's as to why they should come here. Well we are going to be STACKED on d-line in a year or two. Why should a DT want to come here with the commitments we have here. Don't bring Orgeron in to this either because we have lack of depth + David Reaves for QB coach and still have no top prospect.

One key piece of information that's missing here is what the coaches think. I believe they had cooled on Hailes and never offered Sims. This rumor is completely meaningless if the coaches don't want either player.

I can hear Saban going on about pulling Simms scholarship if he takes any official visits.

I really doubt our staff would not want Sims. He is considered one of the best pro-style recruits and he would be a huge benefit in recruiting.

You don't not take a guy like Sims even if you don't think he'll ever start. Sims and Bray would be a great class along with LaMaison.

This is false. Have a contact with Sims and Sims has stated this is totally false.

Matt, I'm not understanding what is false.

So far, it's no more than a quote by Askew in which he seems confident that he could get Sims to come take a visit. Do you think this is completely out of the question?

Sims is Solid with Alabama....

We see solid early commits open up their recruiting all the time.

With Askew in his ear, I'm waiting to see how we perform this season before I completely write off Sims.

Victories over key rivals and a good showing by the offense could quickly make UT the hot team in recruiting.

What happens if we beat BAMA and have numerous OL and WR recruits at that point? What happens if we actually beat UF? What happens if we go 10-2?

Lots of ifs, but if any one of those ifs comes true then we should look incredibly appealing to top QBs. Then again, we could completely suck and lost most of the commits we already have. Who knows?
