Saban in 2003 on the LSU/Oklahoma matchup:
"We're the only two (contending) teams in the country that had to play a 13th game," he said. "We had to do a little bit more to earn the right."
Now that OSU is making a statement, who should go?

OSU didn't play 13 games, sorry .

The only conference championship game winners this year(outside the SEC) have two or three loses.

He also said ...

‎"Anyone who doesn't win their conference has no business playing in the national championship game."

He also said he wasn't leaving LSU and he also wasn't taking the Bama gig. It's a shame but his words don't mean much when they constantly get retracted.

Doesn't really matter, cuz he never said it.

He said it on a radio interview and it was printed the next day. I completely agreed with what he said. By your reaction "doesn't really matter" you feel the same way. The only way you would admit this is if you were on the other side. I have said if Tennessee was ranked number 2 today and didn't win our conference , let alone division....no way we play for the title. On top of that , if we lost to them at our house? OSU would pass us in the rankings. They couldn't stop talking about "The rematch" long enough for LSU to enjoy the win. Who the hell did you beat that LSU didn't? Nobody. Look at their schedule and tell me you would trade and only have one loss. But hey , E$PN will get what they want.

they are the 2 best teams in the country,,and should play it out,,that's what the BCS was made for to put the two best teams on the field in a bowl game to decide the national championship.

Bottom line is , LSU has nothing left to prove. If it was Alabama , I would say the same. I am not fond of either team. I'm only being honest.

Already have, LSU won. It's really that simple. OSU won the big 12, they are a champion, they have better wins than Bama. They need to be destroyed by LSU. Because that is what is going to happen, any team lobbying to face THAT LSU team in New Orleans (basically a home game for LSU) is insane.

Exactly. If there is a rematch, no matter the outcome, it won't be satisfying. If Bama wins, they just split a home and home, if they lose, then everyone is going to be wondering why they got a rematch.

Anyone making an arguement for oregon stanford or okie state, is more or less butt hurt it's bama. There is not arguement for any of those three teams. Oregon also lost to LSU and lost to a kiffin team. Stanford was destroyed by oregon. Okie state lost to an Iowa state team that I had forgotten existed. Just because some of these weiner teams won conferences doesn't mean they deserve an NC title shot.

Exactly. Bama is the clear #2.

The Cardinals didn't win their division and won the world series. The Packers won the Super Bowl as a wild card. Why should college be any different? The best two are playing period.

college is different because there are no playoffs. I'm fine if there were and bama was an at-large team that made it to the final game. Unfortunately that doesn't exist in CFB and the system we have is screwed up
