Racism in America is dead....

Racism, to some extent, still exists. It's just nowhere near the level the media and left makes it out to be.

No, not day-to-day, but I do play in a poker game where a couple of guys use it regularly. Funny thing is, both are more educated than most of the players in the game. Both are extremely conservative too. Just an example of how it's not dead. Also, I had to terminate an employee a couple of years ago for repeatedly referring to a male black co-worker as a "lazy N". It is just a terribly misinformed thread because there are regions in our country where racism still reigns.

And its not one sided either. In a bar in DC last month and 4 black guys were very loud and really calling white and latinos bad names..............oh I forgot that is not racist.

So you know a couple of guys who use the "n" word during poker games and that means racism is alive and well?

I can all but guarantee that you are more ignorant about the racial attitudes of conservatives than I am.

Exactly. I have many conservative friends and i assure you i've heard the N world all of ZERO times in conversation and the amount of even remotely racist statements in my lifetime i can count on one hand.

so a couple of guys YOU hang out with are racists and therefore racism is a huge problem in this country. interesting logic.

Interesting comprehension.

Never said racism was a huge problem in this country. Check my post. Said it wasn't dead and it's not. Since YOU mentioned it, racism is still a HUGE problem in certain areas. There are regions where you won't find a black person living within a 15 mile radius. In these areas I speak of, you will also see that the rebel flag is the flag of choice, rather than the American flag.

i'll bet you $5,000 that you can't find me an area with a pop over 1,000 that doesn't have a single black person within 15 miles.

Rebel flag the flag of choice? You talking about the Sandinistas?

Racism is about action, not opinion. The amount of action that is racist in America has dwindled dramatically. It will never go away, but it is way, way down.

amazing how all these liberals on this board sans LG consistantly have under 50 posts and consistantly have the same message. wonder when we'll be hearing from SandstoneVol about income disparities and how black people have a low happiness index.

What does that have to do with anything?

I had a black friend in HS that owned and sported a "Rebel" Flag t-shirt. What was he? misinformed?

I guess it is pretty lily white. not sure this has anything to do with racism in montana though.

I don't think it's racism at all. It isn't racism driving the lack of AAs in Siberia either.

You could in some of the western states but it would have absolutely nothing to do with racism. I have lived in or visited urban, suburban, and rural areas all across the country. I grew up in the rural south.

The most racist place I experienced was the fairly liberal city of Chicago. The city was and maybe still is divided by ethnicity and race... and there are some strong racial feelings expressed. The least racist places I have been are small, conservative towns.

Maybe I should clarify the OP just a little. There are still individuals or small pockets of racism. But it isn't pervasive or socially tolerated and especially not amongst thoughtful conservatives. The whole idea that racism and conservatism are synonymous just won't hold water.

SC-1 is a VERY conservative district. The guy got 65%+ in a district that is about 80% white running against a black Dem. IOW's, he was nominated by conservative white Republicans then won on the strength of the conservative white vote. This conservative black man did far, far better amongst whites than Obama did.

Who is the racist party again?
