Raheem Morris

HC - Gruden
OC - Bates or Shoop
QB - Bates or Shoop
RB - Graham
WR - Martin
TE - Middleton
OL - If Shoop then Pittman, if Bates then Morris
DC - Morris or Bradley
DL - Franklin or Millard
LB - Barry or Bradley or Brooks
DB - Morris or Burns
ST - Bisaccia

Also, there is the potential for at least one of Gruden's former players to join Gruden's staff at UT...a guy who is currently doing NFL coverage.

As long as Tennessee has strong OLine and DLine coaches, I will be happy with the staff. If you have a coaches in place who will push your OLine and DLine and get 100% out of them, you will always have a good chance at winning.

Any talk of a guy like Trooper Taylor being in play for OC? Also I think if we're throwing big money at OCoordinators/QB Coach, I'd do my best to steal Kliff Kingsbury from TAMU! He coached up Case Keenum to record numbers and clearly has done wonders for Johnny Football. Again if we're opening up the pocket book for assistants and bringing in quality people, KK is where my search would start. Combine Gruden's knowledge of the WCO and what he learned with Chip Kelly with Kingsbury's knowledge of "Air Raid" variations of Mike Leach, Dana Holgorson, and Kevin Sumlin and you have a potent mix of offensive knowledge!

This is without a doubt the most interesting (and possibly only imaginary/hypothetical) thread going on VolNation at the moment. Keep up the good work!!!

OK. I can do without the Trooper Taylor references.

HC - Gruden
OC/QB - Bates/Shoop
RB - Graham
WR - Martin, also hearing Hayes-Stoker's name if Bates is the OC/QB
TE/ST - Bisaccia or Middleton/Bisaccia
OL - If Shoop then Pittman, if Bates then Morris
DC - Morris, Bradley, Zook
DL - Hobby, Franklin, or Millard
LB - If Bradley he would coach LBs, if Morris/Zook then Barry or Brooks (hearing other names here as well)
DB - If Morris or Zook they would also coach DBs, if Bradley then Burns

You probably know more about his job in DC than I do. I just know that I was listening to a Charlotte station a few days before the Panthers/Skins game, and they had a DC sports radio guy on the air. He was going off on Morris's job and predicted (correctly) that even Carolina would have their way with those DBs.

The Skins have struggled due to injuries. That would be the first time I have heard a DC guy not liking the job Morris has done. Seriously, a lot of people want him promoted

So could the delay in Hart actually saying Dooley is fired have nothing to do with Vandy/UK/or a possible bowl game and more to do with wanting a whole coaching staff ready to go before an announcement is made?

Hart not announcing Dooley as fired is genius.

1) It means that he doesn't have to "formally" interview at the time.

2) It means he doesn't have to answer questions about interviewing anyone or Gruden. You know as soon as they mention Dooley is fired, the question will be asked "Have you spoken to Jon Gruden?"

3) It means that nobody has to publicly turn us down, because the job is still filled.

4) It means that he can set things up for as smooth of a transition as possible. If it is Gruden, then Gruden can have his assistants lined up and ready to sign on the dotted line, and as soon as Gruden is announced, he can send them off to recruit, while he finishes up MNF.

5) Others have said that Dooley will be fired on November 26th, then Gruden hired on December 17th. Enough space to have respect for Dooley, and give Gruden the chance to finish on MNF.

6) Gruden, if announced on December 17th, would still have approximately 2 months to call prospects and get together a great recruiting class.

It's all genius. Announcing Dooley as fired right now does absolutely nothing for either party.

I apologize in advance for my ignorance, but I've seen Zook mentioned as a possible DC in a couple places. Is there a reason why? Also, no mention of Randy Shannon kind of surprises me.

Zook and Gruden are good friends. They both love the game and apparently get together to watch film alot.

Plus.....IF in the case that Gruden doesn't come, it does at least give us SOMEONE in the Head Coaching position. I honestly think the longer Dooley stays around as coach (up until past the Kentucky game) the better. Because if there was a true "search" going on, he would have fired him a long time ago publicly, in order to jump in the race before Kentucky and Arkansas and probably Auburn got there first. Trust me, we've had our hat in the ring for a while....we just haven't told anyone. And that's what is going to get us the prize.

I don't think people realize how genius this approach really is....it's freaking genius. Of course, if it ends up not being Gruden it's the dumbest approach ever.

I had heard that Morris/Haslett came to a head and Shanny gave Morris DC duties for the 4th Quarter of the Rams game.

The Rams had 433 yards in the first 3 quarters. The Rams had 37 yards on 13 and 2 3/outs. Nothing officially released... that's just what I've heard.

Yeah, this. If you don't get Gruden, then it's a stupid gamble that puts your coaching search behind everyone else.

And why are people so worried about being turned down publicly anyway? You sound like 13 year old boys asking a girl to a dance. Alabama was turned down publicly by Rich Rodriguez and by Saban. It didn't hurt them any.

It's not genius, it's common sense. Let's not give Hart too much credit.
