Lance Thompson is really overrated IMO. Outside of 2 good years, both of which probably caused by Saban, what has he done?

He may be a good/solid recruiter, but he'll never have a class like the last 2 he's pulled in again.

Even though he was given credit for most of those players, I can guarantee that it was mostly Saban.

I feel the same but decided not to voice it earlier due to the fact I seem to attract hostility if it is apparent that I don't have a cup of kool-aid in my hand.

But, since you mention it, yes, Saban was a big reason for his success. If it were really all CLT, then some of those recruits would have followed him to UT. Still, having said that, CLT is a solid recruiter but he can only sell what CLK gives him to sell. CLK needs to deliver on the field. A better than expected record next fall will allow CLT and the rest of the staff to sell the program.

Next fall is key.

I live down here in Pensacola and know the local Highs Schools fairly well. Daphne, Fairhope, and Blount Highschools around Mobile, are loaded with very talented kids. The panhandle is also a hotbed of talent. Trent Richardson was from Pensacola. I think LT should be able to have his way around the panhandle. The good thing about the panhandle is that there is not one school that all the kids go to. Its amazing how many LSU, FSU, UF, AU, AL, UT, and Ohio St fans there are down here.

CLT is a solid recruiter and will be a solid recruiter, but don't let that fool you into thinking BAMA won't get the majority of who they want (notice I said majority) cause they will.

Thats somewhat true, Bama will get the players that we don't want. We do not want the majority, just the few, the proud, the play makers. Go Vols! :dance2:

Come on now. Whatever happened to Southern hospitality. Yes, he's a fan of a different team--Bama at that--but he's not here bashing. He's here being civilized and speaking honestly. If you bash him just because he's here and not a Vol fan, you're no better than the trolls that come here just to bash Tennessee.

No one is saying Saban can't recruit. If there were HC that got recruiter of the year then Saban probably would have won it.

You can bash LT all you want because he left you all for us but why do you think he will not be able to recuit at UT? We have nicer facilities than you all do. He seems like a really good recrutier regardless of where he is. IMO

You're joking right? Way to tout being able to get recruits out of your home state. BAMA will get their share of recruits but won't have their pick like you think. Trooper at Auburn will compete with you for in-state picks. Mullen at MSU, Nutt at OM, Petrino at Arky, and Miles at LSU will all give you some competition. You'll also have UT who won't be hesitant to go after Alabama kids. It's not going to be the cake-walk that you think. Also, if your team has a worse record this year like most think they will then it might not be so easy to recruit next year. Keep in mind that BAMA had an empty cupboard and had a lot of room which helped your recruiting classes. 2 powerhouse recruiting classed in a row means less room for kids to come in a play right away which has been your major attraction along with being an up-and-coming program. I wouldn't expect to be in the top 5 for recruiting again for another 2 years.
