Rajion Neal's draft status

On a side note...NFL teams look to have great depth at RB....RB's can't pull the same load they did in college play.....so this will hopefully help RN's draft stock (even if his 40 times are off be a couple tenths)..

You and me both buddy. McCullers has the size that should've guaranteed he disrupted 90% of plays, either by taking up two defenders and STILL plugging a hole, or breaking through the LOS. I just do...not...get it.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Big Dan go to New England later on in the draft. He fits their system and can sit behind their experienced big guys. I think Belichek can bring out the mean in everybody.

Lets hope Neal doesn't turn into a bitter jackwagon with a huge chip on his shoulder that takes every opportunity to throw his alma mater under the bus like Foster.

So true. Of course foster hasn't just throw us under the bus since leaving... He also threw the ball to the other team quite often while he played here. Neal had no fumble 6's during his time here. His legacy should be much better. True VFL imo

I don't see it. I see Gerald Riggs Jr, Cedrick Houston type player w/o their wasted hype.

The only reason he uses that argument is because he hates the coaching staff, and wants to continue on the merry go "to hell" round, that firing coaches every dang year brings. What little talent we had was uncomplimentary, disjointed and underachieving.

Nope. Don't hate the staff. But that's an easier argument for someone who can't argue the facts...

Because you don't seem to know... there's a difference between having high expectations for coaches and hating them.

For the record, I don't disagree with any of you fellas about McCullers. The switch just never really flipped on and stayed on for him, though he had some nice moments against South Carolina and a few others.

But, in all fairness to him, dude never had any business playing in a 4-3, not even in the Leo defense with reduced responsibilities. He has always been a 3-4 NT and was playing way out of place last year. I actually thought he looked very solid at NT in 2012 for how big he was. I completely understand why the coaches did it - you can't just not play the biggest dude on your team - but I think a lot of the stuff people confuse for lack of motivation with him was actually just lack of being in the right place. I also don't buy that the staff can just force people to be motivated - they do a pretty good job at pumping people up, but you know what they say about leading horses to water and trying to make them drink. If Dan's heart wasn't in it, it wouldn't really matter much what they did to motivate him in practice.

I like Rajion, but he lacks a toughness running the ball, an ability to break tackles and elude defenders that a guy like Rice definitely has. I hope he makes a roster but I think it's a longshot that he does.
I personally think Rajion is a better overall RB than Arian Foster was. Foster has pretty good vision, and finds the cut back lane, but he's not as fast as Neal.

Gillespie really helped him develop this year. Did not see a draft-able RB before this season. In fact, did we ever see him hit a long run, before 2013?

Iirc, Arian ran 4.58, Rajion ran 4.53 & 4.57. Arian has surprised me with his success in the NFL. Hope Rajion does the same.

Foster>Neal With that being said I think the fact that everyone passed on Foster is going to help Neal greatly come draft day.

Rajion Neal will do well if he is given the chance. He can catch the ball out of the backfield exceptionally well. So well, in fact, that he was transitioned to receiver for much of his Junior year (by Dufus Dooley). Scouts recognize this. As a New Orleans Saints fan, I think he'd be a steal in rounds 4-5, and fits Sean Payton's skill set for a "screen-receiving" TB in his offense.

Oy vey!! So u have to throw in a jab at Dooley, while in a way complimenting him on how he was able to see and use one of Neals other attributes?? In a thread where it's being discussed if CBJ is capable of making lemonade out of the lemons he inherited.

Pathetic.

Personally I think Neal did what Poole did and that was stay healthy for the league. Not saying they didn't work hard, but I don't think the "extra effort" was given. I thought Poole was holding back back then, and was afraid it rubbed off on Neal. I think Neal has every ability to do well in the NFL if picked up by the right team of course. Same for DMc as long as someone is able to find that mean bone in him "Waterboy" style. I would put the blame on both him and CBJ for not getting the best out him. Just makes me wonder if the coaches just gave up on him and/or he just didn't care for them. It's tough on some of these kids to build trust with new coaches. Especially after the one they had known, and built a bond with was ousted in such a way by fans that continue to bash the hard work they put in the '12 season.

There's no question that Neal had a better Sr year. Both have a style that's probably better suited for the NFL than for CFB.

I don't see Neal being drafted until late, if he's even drafted. One thing Foster has that Neal never has is the ability to shed tacklers and make yardage. I've seen to many times that Neal was barely bumped and he was on his butt.

He improved greatly this year in that particular area. Before this past season, I never thought Neal had a chance at being drafted.

I think Gillespie getting on him and staying on him, about his weaknesses, helped transform him. He isn't the shiftiest guy, but he can make some nice moves to shed the first defender
